Death of Corryn Rayney

Hello. I was the one who edited the article back on November 19. I only put in the circa template because an exact date of her birth is not listed; I do not however dispute the year of her birth, since as you correctly stated the year of her birth is given in the first reference. I have used the circa template on many articles for people both living and deceased that only gave the year of birth (or death) and not a month and day; you're the first person that I'm aware of that reverted such an edit of mine in the years that I've been doing so. I have now reverted it back. 73.199.80.94 (talk) 20:55, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for your explanation. I cannot comment on previous cases where you have used it, because there are none apparent in the contributions of your current IP address. In some circumstances it may be appropriate, for example if a source published today says "Mr Smith, who is 40 years old...". Then we could guess he was probably born in 1974, although there is a possibility he was born in the first week of January 1975. I would support you saying "c. 1974" in that scenario.
But in this case, as you admit, there is no question of the year Mrs. Rayney was born; instead the source has chosen not to print it because it is not vital information to their story. The dictionary defintion of circa is "approximately". Including it in this case brings unnecessary ambiguity. We not not write that she "migrated to Australia with her Indian family in c. 1973" just because we don't know the exact date. There is no reason her date of birth should be any different, so I kindly invite you to self-revert. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:32, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for responding. I have linked directly to the edit I've made on November 19 so you can see my old IP from there.

There is no reason her date of birth should be any different

I see where you're coming from, though, my reasoning being that since the exact date and month of her birth were never disclosed, adding the circa template seemed appropriate. The date of her birth is certainly much more important than when she had moved from her country of birth. I was always taught that "c." (or something similar) should be placed before the year even if it's known that it is beyond a doubt the correct year if no corresponding day and/or month is disclosed/known; perhaps things are done differently regarding such usage in Australia? (I live in the US.) Have I been taught an unorthodox method? Anyway, as for the revert, someone already beat me to it. It appears that the article is being watched over like a hawk and I suppose the case is bigger and more controversial than I previously thought (since it is still under investigation) as I'm only aware of it through an Internet acquaintance that lives in Western Australia, various local news media and YouTube videos of it. Thanks once again. 73.199.80.94 (talk) 22:35, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the update. I am quite surprised to know that my page has been nominated for deletion. In fact I never tried to "self" promote myself and my profession as an actor is going good and few more films will hit the screen soon. I thought to add them only once the film has been released rather than showing as "In progress". I believe if you are neutral, you can create any articles which includes our own which should be on wiki standards. If the facts are real, then what's the issue with a page? I hope to add more details to the page as new films gets releases. So I request to withdraw the nomination to delete it. But if you still believe that we should not create our own pages ( with right references ), then I request you to reconsider the decision. Rajeshbieee (talk) 05:47, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

  • I am expecting a reply..please.

Rajeshbieee (talk) 13:13, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Rajeshbieee. I see you have removed the page for now. To be honest, I think that was a good decision. I agree that it is ok IF you are neutral, but that it is very difficult to be neutral. The thing about true "editing" is not writing things, but deciding what to write. In other words, choosing which facts to include. For example, imagine some highly respected critics said that your acting was the worst in India's history. Would you be able to put that in the article?
On another point is that in Australia it is very embarrassing when a celebrity or politician is reported in the news for editing their own wikipedia page. I don't know if it is the same in India, but I don't want you to face the same trouble in the future.
So for now, I want to say good luck with your career. Hopefully your star keeps rising and other people will recognise that wikipedia is missing a page about you. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:55, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the valuable points. I am waiting for my time now...

Hanshin Tiger Articles

Hi! Thanks for the message! I'm glad you liked them, although to be honest, they are not that well written. I just translate most of them directly from their Japanese Wikipedia articles, and since I am not yet that fluent in Nihongo, my translations tend to look like a hodgepodge of clippings from various newspaper article. I also admit to mucking up some of the articles when I was still new to Wiki, though not intentionally of course (terribly sorry about Katoh-san's article). >_<

I'm still learning though, and will try to improve the articles in time. Right now, I just do them for fun. Ehehe. Please feel free to edit them if you can. Thanks again! :)

Okonomi-mura

The edits to the information about the number of restaurants in Okonomi-mura are being made as part of an integrated studies lesson. The information will change for about 50 minutes a day after which I will revert it. I forgot to do it after the first lesson. By tomorrow, all the lessons will be complete and the page will no longer show the figure of 20 restaurants. That being said, it is interesting to note that the information itself actually varies quite a bit from place to place. The wiki originally said there were 26 in the article and 27 in the side bar. The Japanese wiki says 27 whereas if you count the shops listed on the official English homepage there are 26! I am tempted to take a trip over there some afternoon and count exactly how many there are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.23.70.8 (talk) 09:19, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

I see that your edit yesterday afternoon put the number at 25, which is what the official Japanese page says. That would be the most reliable source so I have changed it back to that number. I personally would be willing to believe you if you went there yourself to confirm, but there are rules regarding published sources on this site. So for now I guess we have to stick with 25.
As for your claim of it changing "for about 50 minutes a day", it was 8 hours yesterday and more than 5 hours today. I don't think people donate money to the Wikimedia foundation for the benefit of school experiments, so if it is vital for you to do this, a little more punctuality would be appreciated! ;)
But I am curious as to how this minor change to a minor article is used within your lesson... AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:35, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, I often forgot to change it back but the issue was several lessons in a day. It seems 25 is correct but I never bothered to visit or call to confirm. The lessons were all very successful. Sorry for the disturbance, though thank you for the phrase "I don't think people donate money to the Wikimedia foundation for the benefit of school experiments" which struck me as amusingly worded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.87.38.144 (talk) 15:09, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Sign languages and television

Hi! I like your addition to the page on sign language, merging in material from the old article on sign languages on television. I moved it earlier, so it could be next to the other sections on interpreting, and changed the title of the section to make the connection explicit. This is not to ignore television programs that use a sign language as a primary language, but that doesn't seem to be what this section seems to be talking about. Further, by changing the title of the section, we call attention to the lack in a lot of people's thinking, and make room for a section about television broadcasting (or vlogs or other video-based technologies) that use a sign language as the primary language. I'll leave a note on the talk page about that.

Hi AlbertBickford, thanks for your message. I agree entirely with what you have said above. I will comment further on the article's talk page. Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:36, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

You're welcome
Jaaron95. To be honest it was a fluke. When you mentioned the infobox in your reason for PRODing, it led me to taking a peek at the history because I wanted to find out why there was such a huge difference in quality between the infobox and the rest of the article. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk

Information icon Hello, I'm Stesmo. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of List of Indian engineering college rankings. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal Wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stesmo (talk) 16:40, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi Stesmo, thanks for your message. What happened was an IP added 2 schools to the very top of that page. One was unranked and obviously didn't belong, and the other was not in alphabetical order. I was trying to get rid of the unranked one and remove the external link to the other. The first time I got an edit conflict with the IP and had to do it over. The second time I focussed on the alphabetical order, but forgot to delete the external link.
Unfortunately your revision reinserted the unranked school, plus kept the external link, but moved it higher up the list. If mt explanation doesn't make sense, please check out the diffs. Thanks for your efforts, but please be careful about the contents of reversions. Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 22:51, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi
Liberty tower (melbourne) had been created by TLJL ausarch2015 when I was looking through Special:NewPages. The lower case of the two latter words caught my attention, so I looked to see if Liberty Tower (Melbourne)
already existed. It didn't, but had a record of being deleted several years ago. So I simply performed a move from the lower-case title to the upper-case title. I wasn't aware that TLJL had another version in the Draft space.
Not checking TLJL's contributions was a mistake on my behalf. If I had done so, and found that it had been copy-pasted from the Draft space, what should I have done? I'm asking as I expect I will come across this problem again in the future. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 12:32, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
I see! Thanks for getting back to me on this. Cleaning up a copy-paste move requires an admin to perform a "history merge", see WP:Requests for history merge#The procedure for how to get it done. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:53, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll remember that. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 13:02, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

your Hostile nature

hello AtHomeIn神戸 I think you have some problem with me ,you are Continiously destroying my contribution in Wikipedia ,which include Subodh Markandeya ,Delted several pics in Rishikesh pages .Stop doing this hostile work please.Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 07:39, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Dear Amit.pratap1988, I am sorry if you are offended, but there is nothing hostile in my actions. I disagree with the contents of some of your recent edits and have removed them, which I am free to do. You are also free to revert that, which you have done for example on Constitution of India. I have started a section on the discussion page there, so we can get the opinions of other people also.
Please do not take it personally. I currently disagree about some of your edits, but I
assume that you are not doing anything intentionally bad. We can work the issues out. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk

hello AtHomeIn神戸 Can you see you had deleted almost all pictures from Rishikesh page in malafide way.Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 07:46, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Amit.pratap1988, There was no bad faith in the removal of those pictures. Some of them were not sourced properly (e.g. taken from facebook) so I removed them. Some also appeared to be very similar, so I removed them too. Others which looked good I moved down to the gallery at the end of the page.
I ask you to please stop suggesting I am acting in a hostile or bad faith manner. I admit I did not explain my reasons for removing and moving the photos. Hopefully you now understand. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:58, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
Amit.pratap1988, I did a google search and found that your addition of travel instructions to Rishikesh is a copyright violation of this page. Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and Land acquisition in India
.
As I said, the articles on legislation really do not need one person's opinion tacked onto the lead. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:06, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
hello AtHomeIn神戸I think you had a bad faith for me brother, you had even almost ruined my contribution to Subodh Markandeya article ,do you think all celebrities had newspaper cititations for thier early life and education days .the answer will be 80% celebrities on Wikipedia doesnt had any reliable citation for family and early life and even education .for example you can go through Indian lawyers list Category:Indian lawyers, you can find almost all lawyers articles are lacks in early life citations .Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 15:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Well, the Wikipedia
policy on biographies of living people makes it 100% clear that infromation which is not cited in a newspaper or other reliable source simply should not be included. That is a crystal clear rule and one of th emost important rules of Wikipedia. To show you that I am not acting in bad faith towards you personally, I will have a look at that list and fix some of the other articles too. After you have read that policy, it would be great if you help me clean up those articles so they comply with the rules too. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk
) 00:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Amit.pratap1988, I have looked at the first 6 biographies included in that list. The first two articles, Laxmi Raman Acharya and Mohammad Aeltemesh, somebody else had already put the same tags saying sources are required. The next one, Ajay Agarwal, was only two sentences long and both had a source. Number 4 was Mira Aggarwal, which had some sources but not enough in my opinion, so I added the tag asking for more sources. The fifth one was Flavia Agnes, which somebody else tagged in September last year. Number 6 was Satish K. Agnihotri; this one has three sentences and every sentence has a different source.
The seventh one was fantastic -
RK Anand
, which was already tagged.
So as you can see, there are plenty of article on Indian lawyers that need more sources. Some were tagged three years ago. It would be fantastic if you could help improve those articles and other by adding extra sources.
There was one huge difference between these articles and the one on Subodh Markandeya though. I could not see anything in those 10 articles that included information such as "Shy and reserved by nature, his training in Jagdish Swarup’s chamber made Markandey even more reclusive.". Without a source, such personal trivia simply does not belong in a biography of a living person, so I am sure I was correct in deleting it. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:14, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Subodh Markandeya was a Notable Alumni and Notable Ex Lawyer fro from Allahabad High Court and Osmania University and even for that you got problem .AtHomeIn神戸 Its your responsibility to Restore all Pics in orignal manner as it was thier in Rishikesh page but you deleted almost all .Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 15:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Three points here:
1) Lawyers are not an "alumni" of a court. He may have done some work there - he may have done a lot of work there. But it does not make him an alumni. A list of judges is natural, because that court is their jurisdiction.
2) As for the university, I removed a huge photo of him that you had placed at the bottom of the section before the list of alumni. His name is still mentioned in the list of alumni. A former prime minister of the country is also an alumni of that school. Wouldn't a photo of him be better?
3) The Rishikesh photos - as I noted on that article's talk page yesterday, I have restored all the photos except for the facebook one and some duplicates. Sometimes you had the same photo in different positions, which is unnecessary. I am not going to put them back in their "original manner", because having lots of large photos of the same beach in every section made it look like a travel diary, not an encylcopedia article. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

AtHomeIn神戸 please its my request to you stop doing hostile Acts against me ,your responsibility is to guide new Wikipedians ,not to do anything in mala fide way,There are 4,878,738 articles on Wikipedia. Focus your contributions on another article, where you can more easily make constructive edits, don't just concentrate your energy in bad faith towards a new Wikipedian because i am seeing you are almost deleting all my Wikipedia contribution at every hour .Assuming good faith is a fundamental principle on Wikipedia. It is the assumption that editors' edits and comments are made in good faith. Most people try to help the project, not hurt it. If this were untrue, a project like Wikipedia would be doomed from the beginning. When disagreement occurs, try to the best of your ability to explain and resolve the problem, not cause more conflict by ruining all contribution by another Wikipedian.Wikipedia articles are improved through the hard work of both regular editors and newcomers. Remember: all of us were new editors at Wikipedia once, and in some ways (such as when editing an article on a topic outside our usual scope) even the most experienced among us are still newcomers.Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 15:55, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

I have done every thing in good faith. If I thought something didn't belong in an article, I removed it. If I thought it did belong but needed improvement, I fixed it. To be honest, I am getting a bit tired of your accusations of bad faith, so I am politiely asking you to stop it. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

If a newcomer seems to have made a small mistake , try to correct it yourself: do not slam the newcomer. Remember, this is a place where anyone may edit and therefore it is each person's responsibility to edit and complement, rather than to ruining his contribution in almost all pages. If you use bad manners or curse at newcomers, they may decide not to contribute to the encyclopedia again.Amit.pratap1988 (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Correcting your mistakes is what I did; I did not slam you. I posted a note to your talk page suggesting you stop inserting the name of your lawyer in places where it does not belong. Your reply to that was that "...iam editors at several pages and i know the limits and rules of wikipedia". As I admitted above, sometimes I didn't fully explain why I was correcting you. But if you can find one example where I have cursed, "slammed you", or otherwise acted innappropriately, then please show it to me. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Kothariketan247, I see from your contributions that you must be referring to Shri Ram Institute of Technology. Hi

Thank you for your good advise , you are so good for friendly advise- i really do not do any thing for revenge . G 11 must be equal for all. Guide me more - How all this happen - e.g G7 - G11- I replied honestly & contested with genuine reason. I found many , various articles e.g amazon.com/ ebay/ flipcart and many more . I want to add some indian top sites which will be usefull for reader espasially in law segment for common law countries , willing to share landmark judgements , want to give reference of books and put the sites of library & stores where one can get it - I do have other question in my mind e.g why the page of one is deleted e.g ebcwebstore.com and the others (amazon/ebay/flipcart and many more ) sustains. can you please share your knowledge with me and guide me how this all happen is wikipedia owners /administrators is partial. the other question which comes in my mind is How i can also do write such articles & save them so that other must not delete. will be happy if you guide me doing good contribution. Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 05:45, 6 July 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

Hi Priyadarshivishal23, and thanks for your message. First of all, your easy question: How i can also do write such articles & save them so that other must not delete.
Rather than simply starting an article, I suggest you write it in your sandbox first. There is a link at the top of the page, next to your username and talk. If you want to work on several at the same time, you can either use the "Draft" area or your "User" area. Personally, I recommend your user area. So if you want to start drafting articles about cats and dogs, you can save them at User:Priyadarshivishal23/Dog and User:Priyadarshivishal23/Cat. Then, when you feel it is ready to be published, you can request a review of it. Others will give you input on what needs to be fixed.

The above reply is good and apply this practice .Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 11:07, 6 July 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

Now for your harder question, why does Amazon have an article, but not ebcwebstore? To answer this, Wikipedia's guideline on
notability
is the most important page to read, in order to understand why some things have an article but not others.
Basically, Amazon has an article because it has been reported about in the media and academia before. Did you know that the article on Twitter was once almost deleted? But it was saved because someone found some news articles about it. That is the key to Wikipedia - finding other news or academic articles which discuss the topic. If you can find news or other sources which discuss ebcwebstore, then that would be the basis of an article.
Regarding your comment I want to add some indian top sites which will be usefull for reader espasially in law segment for common law countries, I'm afraid you may be approaching it the wrong way. I'll try to explain it this way. If I want to buy a book from America, I will visit Amazon.com.

"Top site" i written wrongly I am willing to write/say reliable here . Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 11:07, 6 July 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

If I think "That's a cool site, who created it?', then I can come to wikipedia and learn about Amazon's history. If I want to buy a book about Indian law, I can buy it at ebcwebstore. But I don't need a wikipedia page for that. That's why it sounds like promotion when you say "adding top sites about the law". If they are top relable sites, we can add their references into the articles about the law. But we don't need articles about the sites, we need articles about the law. If people start writing newspaper articles about the history of ebcwebstore, then in the future there will be material that can be used to create an article about that site. Right now, I don't beleive that material exists.
Here's an example. Every day me and my workmates eat lunch at a small restaurant. It is a great source of food, and very important for our lives. If it disappeared it would be horrible! But nobody has ever written about it in books and newspapers, so I can't write an article about it even though I love it. But on the other hand, a very famous restaurant like Sukiyabashi Jiro has an article. If you look at the references in that article, many newspapers have written about the restaurant before. That is our source of information for the article.
So, if you are writing an article about an Indian Supreme Court Case, you can refer to any outside sites as sources of information as long as they are reliable. But having an article about the source is not necessary and not related to using it as a source. In other words, we don't need an article about ebcwebstore.com in order to use it as a reference (where appropriate). I know nothing about that site, but if it is really famous and people have written articles about the site (not about what's on the site), then an article about it would be possible.
Finally, I don't think administrators are partial here. The Times of India is a good example of a well-known Indian business with a Wikipedia article. I hope you can see why Amazon and The Times have their own articles, because they are at the top level of notability. But not everything can have an article.
I'm sorry this is such a long response. I hope it makes sense. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 06:38, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Your Response/ Guidance is really valuable so you must not be sorry for writing long. I am greatfull for receiving this long reply up to a extent i learned something good. Thanks. You are right It make sense too. you have very good capacity of convincing. But AMAZON/EBAY/BOOKFINDER/FLIPCART VS. OTHERS on g11 & g12 & rightnow is diffcult to understand by me. I still belive partiality. Next time onwards when i am willing to create something great i will create in sandbox as you guided and i also ask your guidance if you donot mind.

Thanks Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 11:07, 6 July 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

I don't mind at all. You are welcome Priyadarshivishal23. I didn't mention the G11, G12 issue though. Let's start with G12, the easier one on copyright. This is only used where basically the whole contents of an article has been copied and pasted from a book or other website. I would like to show you examples, but they normally get deleted pretty quickly. I don't know what the contents of your article were, but a common mistake by new users is to copy the "About Us" section of a company's website and paste it into a new article about the company. That would fall into both G11 (promotional), but also G12 (copyright). Also, students will sometimes copy a chapter of a textbook into a new article. That is a G12 copyright problem.

Ok. You explain good . Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 06:05, 7 July 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

For an article to be deleted as G11, the whole thing has to be promotional. Amazon.com doesn't fall into that category, because the article has some bad stuff in there too. For example,
this section
. However, sometimes employees of very large companies do try to insert promotional information into articles. Recently I deleted a large chunk of text that looks like was inserted by an employee.

Dominos is the biggest pizza company in Australia. It has an article that is mainly neutral, but I deleted this because it looks too promotional to me. Maybe more in that timeline should be deleted too. I'm not sure.

Good luck with your article writing. Let me know anytime you have any other questions. Also, thank you very much for the barnstar. It is the first time I have received one and I feel very honoured! AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:36, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Transfer of Property Act 1882 wikipedia

Thankyou for your message regarding edit on Transfer of Property Act 1882 wikipedia .

THe content to be added on this wiki will be very usefull . I am having some beautifull citation of the Supreme Court/ High Court of India and relevant text to support how the 19 other statutes that I have added are primarily concerned with ,transfer of property act 1882 and getting used by Practitioners in their day to day practice in contect of transfer of property act 1882.

So if you allow kindly let it be their. The main objective is this aricle will be easy to understand by the viewer and they get all relevant and usefull information on this wiki in the context of Transfer of property act 1882. Hope you agree. If you are not you can revert the changes done with true efforts and i will not do any further editing on it. Your suggestion and guidance will always be appreciated.

Warm regards

Thank you for your reply Priyadarshivishal23. I have left the list for now, but I am unsure about what you are proposing. The article in question is about the 1882 Act. It should not be a general discussion of property law. Citations from court cases about the Act would be fantastic additions, but court cases about other statutes would be irrelevant. If each of those statutes are important, they should have their own articles, with links between them. Or, as I say, everything combined into one "Property law in India" article. Currently, I think that putting everything under this act would be wrong. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:43, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
P.S. A good example is the first paragraph that I have just deleted. It was discussing property law in general, not the Act. The first sentence/paragraph of an article must clearly introduce exactly what the topic is. I also discovered that it was a direct copy from the summary of the reference book you had listed as a reference. This sort of copy/pasting of copyrighted material is definitely not allowed. These are two issues you need to be careful of. If you have any questions, please ask anytime. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:46, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=VigLink Currently does not mention that Viglink software is treated as spyware by spyware removal programs. Viglink software has tracking cookies and alters browser output to add advertising without user permission. I'm not trained in what citation that would need, but it should be commented on in the article or it amounts to a cover-up of the negative aspect of their work. Can you help? RI Carling (talk) 08:53, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi RI Carling and thanks for your message. I did a quick google search of "Viglink spyware". There are certainly plenty of forum and blog posts of people complaining about it. But we would need something more reliable, such as a news report or a warning note from an anti-virus company. If you can find any suitable reports like that, I'll help you add it to the article. Or of course, you can have a go at adding it yourself and I'll check how you went for you. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:48, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you very much, I am still new to wikipedia and keep making mistakes, I hope for your guidance :) Sometimes I think I am "over sourcing" but too much is better than too few I guess. I really do not want to deal with "editing war" where someone doesn't understand japanese or says there's no source. So many japanese articles have outdated or even wrong info so I want to to slowly start fixing that. Next I want to fix such articles as fukuoka-kitakyushu and maybe just rename it "Greater Fukuoka" or just Fukuoka-Kitakyushu metropolitan area and updated all that info and give a definition of what it is etc. It is Japan's fourth largest metro so it deserves a better page than what it haves IMO. Also feel free to edit/fix any of my posts (grammar, incorrect sourcing style) etc. Thank you again! Itoen90 (talk) 13:05, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Itoen90, thanks for your reply. As for making mistakes, trust me, we all do that. The only thing I can suggest is to always use the preview button (twice). I've been here for about a year now, but still forget sometimes and have to go back again.
As for edit wars, I think the Japanese topics are fairly safe as long as you keep away from religion and anime, where there seem to be a lot of passionate people! But like you say, as long as you are thorough with your sources, it will be harder to argue with you.
I have never thought about the Fukuoka issue before. It looks like there are many options if you are going to rename Fukuoka–Kitakyushu. That might be an option where you run into opposition. I suggest getting opinions at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan page or by using the Wikipedia:Requested moves function.
Good luck, and happy editing! AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:38, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

What can I do to get The Weeknd on Lana Del Rey associated acts and vice versa? JT1527 (talk) 01:43, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your message JT1527 and welcome to Wikipedia. Please see the description of what an "associated act" is here. As far as I can tell, they have worked together on only one song, therefore it falls into the "to be avoided" category. So unfortunately the only thing you can do is to ask them to work together more.
Besides that, I hope you stick around and help work on the articles. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:50, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

ISM Dhanbad rankings

Hi... This is with respect to the changes you made on ISM Dhanbad's ranking in Outlook ranking. I had mentioned that "ISM didnot participate in 2015 survey" while uve changed it to "ISM didnot appear in 2015 rankings". Well bro, it is common sense that a college which was ranked 11th in 2013 and 22nd in 2014 cant get unranked in 2015 survey if it had participated ...as total 100 colleges have been given ranking. The sentence that u r writing seems to give a wrong impression to the readers that ISM participated but cudnot find a place in top 100.

In addition, I had omitted the info about ISM getting 22nd rank in 2014 survey, while u brought it back. I think what I did was nothing wrong as this is also done on the wikipedia pages of all top colleges of India or abroad.. the info on rankings in which they dont get a good rank is omitted. If u think that what I'm doing is providing half-info and am wrong, then u can simply omit the whole reference to Outlook rankings ..whether of 2012-13 or of 2014-15.

Thanks, An ISM passout. (By the way, r u of Indian origin n living in Australia?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Utbindas (talkcontribs) 21:18, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

This is in continuation of my previous mail to you, that I did a minute ago. Well I seem to have found something .. see this page http://www.outlookindia.com/article/top-100-engineering-colleges-in-2015/294646

Here, just below the colourful rankings chart ends, see the first line. It says "1. Only colleges .... Institutes like ISM Dhanbad, which did not participate, were not considered." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Utbindas (talkcontribs) 21:25, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Utbindas and thanks for your messages. (I've joined them under one heading.) First, thank you for pointing out the line about not participating in the 2015 survey. I have changed it back. As for the 2014 survey, information can't be omitted just because it looks bad, especially if there is a conflict of interest in the editing. This is meant to be an encyclopedia with impartial information, not free advertising space. If they had three good years, dropped down one year, then didn't participate after that, I think we should give that full story, not just delete everything. If we do that, only one "7th place" ranking would be left. I'm sure it happens in other articles too, but it shouldn't. If you can show me other articles where it has happened I will gladly add it there also. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:19, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I changed the above article based on the fact that 2012–13 Bangladesh Football Premier League and three other similar season articles all have "Football" in title. DjlnDjln (talk) 13:14, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Djln thanks for your reply. I am am unsure about this to be honest. It is pretty clear that the official name doesn't include the word football, so the fact that it was in similar articles doesn't sound like a great reason to move it. If anything, I would have said that the other articles should have been moved to remove the word football. Perhaps we should get some further opinions on this. Rosemount International School

Hi. The page for Rosemount International School has already been edited. Reviews were added as previously there weren't any notability evidence.

Shazrinarmk2015 (talk) 06:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC)shazrinarmk2015

Dear
general notability guideline
. Basically, you need third-party sources such as newspaper articles or descriptions in books. Winning an award for excellence. Something which makes the school stand out from other primary schools that are in every neighbourhood of the world.
You can particpate in the discussion about the page at
WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES
. As described there, unless a primary school is notable, it normally gets a mention on the article of the city/neighbourhood that it is in.
Please don't hestiate to message me if you have any questions. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:09, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I am trying to create one page for the school. How do I un-direct the page from Siglap?? Shazrinarmk2015 (talk) 00:10, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

To be honest with you Shazrinarmk2015, I think to do so would be a very bad idea. The deletion discussion finished just yesterday, where it was determined that the article should be a redirect to the neighbourhood. To undo that would be disrputive and possibly see you blocked from editing for a short while, perhaps up to a week.
I understand you want to have an article written about this school. I would love to write an article about the primary school I attended when I was young too. But the simple fact of the matter is that, as a matter of policy, Wikipedia does not usually contain articles about primary schoools. To go against this trend, the school must be notable for something that sets them apart from other primary schools. Every school had a founder, every school has a principal. Every school has reviews form happy parents, plus maybe some bad reviews from unhappy parents too. But that does not establish notability. All it does is show that the school exists.
You are maybe asking "so what really is notability then?" As an example, if the school received a government grant so that all of the smartest kids in the country are taught at the school; that would be notable. It has to be something that makes the news and would make people pay attention.
The best way I can demonstrate Wikipedia's policy is to show you
List of schools in Perth, Western Australia
, which is my hometown. Have a look at the first table of primary schools. There is one red link in there, but that article was deleted in 2010. Other people have probably tried to create articles on other schools. But there is no attempt to link to them because they would have all been deleted soon or later. There is one blue link for a Catholic primary school, but if you click the link, it is a redirect to the suburb that the school is located in. That is exactly the same as what happened in your case.
My advice is for you to insert an "Education" section into the Siglap article. In that, you could then list all of the schools in the area, with a one or two sentence description of each. Of course, it is not your responsibilty to add every school. You are free to add only your school. But I would expect other editors to then add other schools in the future.
If you have found newspaper articles or something which establishes the notablilty of the school, I will have a look and help you write a draft article. But so far, the directory listings and facebook pages you have added before were simply not enough.
Sorry for the long reply, but I hope you understand my point, because I know you want to do the right thing. I am willing to help any time you ask. But to finish, I would like to restate my opinion that changing the redirect without further information from independent, third-party sources (e.g. published newspapers) would be a bad idea. Once you get the hang of it, including sources can be quite easy, although it can take a minute to do it. If you like, we can work through some examples. Do you remember where you found the numbers that you added? AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:07, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Telangana

Hi. Just a brief comment. When I reverted, the politician was not referred to as such, and the page (which you now appropriately point to) did not mention the company which the other editor put as the justification for notability. As I said in my revert, I thought this was a different person. The Kola individual, while they do have an article, makes no reference to them being from Telangana. The Sama individual, may or may not be notable (the citation you provided, since it is an interview, is a primary source, and hence invalid as a reference towards notability). My issue with their inclusion, on this page especially, is that you get quite a number of folks wanting to add people to the list that they feel are notable. To keep the standard that they have their own wikipage is in keeping within WP guidelines. Else, you'll have dozens of additions to the article with a single ill-cited source to "show" notability. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me 01:58, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Onel5969 and thanks for your message. I totally agree with your points above. Regarding Kola, I was so surprised to find that an article existed and referred to the same person, I didn't even bother to check whether it described where she came from. I will try to hunt down some sort of source to confirm, or will remove it if I can't find anything.
Regarding Sama, in principle I completely agree that redlinks should be avoided and normally delete them myself. On this occasion, because my initial google search turned up a lot of potential information, I thought it was worth keeping. Now that I have done so, I better take the bait and create the article myself. Again I will remove from the list if I do not come up with enough.
Finally, as a note, I intentionally used the revert button in order to draw your attention to the change and get your feedback on it. I hope that does not go against established etiquette and I am glad you sent me a message. Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:37, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Cool. And regarding the revert: not to me. Especially since you took the time to put a carefully crafted edit summary. Take it easy! Onel5969 TT me 02:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Onel5969, just as an update, I'm going to call it a 1-1 draw. I found a good source to confirm Kola is from the state and added a paragraph to her article. But for Sama, the articles I found were either interviews or descriptions of on his current work, without any biographical depth. Removing him leaves a category of one just one person, so do you think Kola should go in the miscellaneous list at the end? AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 04:28, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Good job. How many before a separate category is created is a judgment call. I tend to go with "3" before I open another category, and that's when there are slim categories. I watch over about 600 lists. When I have a list where most of the categories have 20 or more, that might be "5". But there's nothing technically wrong with a single person in a category. You've done such a good job of reorganizing the article, the ball is in your court. And btw, nice to have another set of eyes on this list. It wears me out. .
