Need your help for Gaga's wiki!

Could you please do the Bloody Mary English page please? It exists in other languages but not English yet and I can't do it since it won't translate as I rarely make English wikis. JulienSorel1965 (talk) 16:42, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Squared.Circle.Boxing. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Amen Thompson, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Sources in the article say their middle name is pronounced "excellence". – 2.O.Boxing 19:21, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Source for pronunciation of state names

I see that you've been adding pronunciations for state names, but I don't see that you've been adding sources. If you have a source, why not add it for each entry. If no source is available, how do we know that the pronunciation is correct? Alansohn (talk) 17:57, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have added sources. Bananah20 (talk) 16:49, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of Melbourne

Hello there

The "r" in Melbourne isn't pronounced in Australian English.

Thank you Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 03:34, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Australian English is non-rhotic. The "r" is still there just not pronounced because of the dialect's phonology. Americans still pronounce it since they speak a rhotic dialect. For clarity, the "r" should be in the pronunciation guide. Brits expect Americans to pronounce the r sounds in York or Liverpool. It's the same thing. The pronunciation guide conventions on Wikipedia include writing them with rs and having non-rhotic speakers pronounce phonemes like /ər/ as they natively would ([ə], etc.). If I'm missing something like the reduced vowel in "Melbourne" not being /ər/, please let me know. I did some reading, and as far as I can tell, it is. Information icon Hi Bananah20! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Nardog (talk) 22:23, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
