Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 15:02, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the

contentious
. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the

Ctopics/aware
}} template.

October 2023

Information icon Hello, I'm TornadoLGS. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Charles Fourier, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:20, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the explanation in your edit summary. Usually it is best to add the statement and the source in the same edit to avoid this kind of thing. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:24, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why the urgency? Ben Azura (talk) 15:28, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Content added without a source is often reverted on the spot, as you experienced. Until your recent edit summary, there was no indication that you intended to provide a source. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:39, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Caudry's Case has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails

GNG
. Only a couple of citations to this case in the secondary literature per a Google scholar and Hein online search.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be

deleted for any of several reasons
.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. voorts (talk/contributions) 20:14, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you have been editing some health-related articles recently. A bunch of us hang out at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine, and you're welcome to join us. Contested PROD

Hi Ben, I hope all is well. Just a note that I've contested your PROD at

Sills Cummis & Gross because I think AfD would be more appropriate in this case. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 17:04, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply
