Accordianism?

Am I to infer that "Accordianism" is to Discordianism as Lotus Sutra Buddhism is to Theravada? Ventifax

I removed your notice on WikiProject Albums. I don't like the template you've created. It's completely unnecessary, in my opinion. Consider discussing this on the Project's talk page. Jogers 21:28, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ska albums stubs

It's a good idea in theory, and certainly not any inconvenience or hassle, it's just that we're reluctant to have stub types that're very much smaller than about 50 or 60 articles in size (somewhat less if there's a wikiproject). If you can find anything like that number, though, it would be very helpful, since as has been noted, the parent category is very large. Alai 21:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Musical Artist Wikiproject Proposal

Please see my user page for more information. Discuss the proposal here. bmearns, KSC(talk) 19:02, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, though there's no wikiproject for musical artists, see
the Featured Music Project, which you may find useful. Tuf-Kat 00:15, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply

Hi, it looks like you could do with some feedback on this, so I've posted some thoughts on User talk:Bmearns/musical artists wikiproject. Flowerparty 00:47, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help

I'm looking for help to know if there's a way to set the color or other formatting for a link, outside of using my own style sheet. I want the formatting to appear on the article to all readers, rgardless of their style sheet. bmearns, KSC(talk) 17:21, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe that is possible, the whole purpose of style sheets etc. is to allow people to put things to their own preferences. --pgk(talk) 18:35, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

moving it

I moved it because I've been doing a wholesale recategorization of Category:Hip hop, so I just came upon it, as it was in one of Category:Hip hop's subcategories(Category:Hip hop groups). Never heard of em. I'd love it if you could help me out by putting all rapcore groups into Category:Rapcore (a category which I created), as it would help make sorting easier. Peace, --Urthogie 22:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was under the impression you were a fan of
Rapcore, so I was just saying if you see any rapcore groups not in that category to go ahead and place em there if you like. Peace, --Urthogie 08:16, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply

Thanks for the advice and comments. I am fairly new to all this and haven't found time to figure it all out but I'll try what you're saying. Thanks again. Sumer Gorkhali 20:01, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Musical Artists

Congratulations on getting the project started. You seem to have created a confusingly large amount of subpages and the like already, but I can only salute your enthusiasm. I'll try to have a look at it when I get time. Have you announced it anywhere yet? Flowerparty 08:12, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Musical Artists

Hi. Basically, I removed this link because it violates, to some great degree, Wikipedia's procedure at

Wikipedia:Signpost's suggestions page. I'm afraid I personally know next to nothing about musical artists. Cheers, Sam Korn (smoddy) 21:51, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply

american hip hop musicians by instrument?

I really think this category was a bad idea. It helps nonewhatsoever with navigation, as it will never hold anything more than rappers and DJ's. Whats the point of a category that has two sub-cagetories. All it does is make navigation more difficult. This category should be deleted.--Urthogie 18:18, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that its good to be consistent, but being pragmatic and useful is better. Hip hop is an exception, whereas most genres could benefit from this category. Could you put it up for speedy deletion?--Urthogie 18:30, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why would you contest the deletion of a category which clearly isnt useful or acceptible under
WP:CAT?--Urthogie 18:36, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply
]
I'm part of this project. I'll update the page to reflect what we've been doing at hip hop.--Urthogie 18:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages

Yeah, if you move a page the new title gets automatically added to your watchlist as well. Thanks for the note, though. Flowerparty 11:53, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attacks

In light of the content on your user page, edit is a clear personal attack, as it is obviously aimed at specific people who opposed that spammer's edits. Please learn to follow the Wikipedia:No personal attacks policy and desist from encouraging people who are only here to spam the project. DreamGuy 21:03, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think DreamGuy needs to re-read the policies on personal attacks. He is a hypocrite and I believe a very angry individual. He's just harassing us now. Let us forget him. SykoByte
Speaking of reading the policy, after I warn you about personal attacks it's pretty ballsy for you (and your spammer friend here) to both go to my talk page and make more personal attacks. You both are banned from my talk page, do not post there again, and if you make your attacks elsewhere I will remove them and/or report them through the appropriate channels. DreamGuy 23:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine by me, but would you be so kind as to tell me exactly what personal attacks I made against you, or anyone for that matter, aside from the one you think I made that started this all? I just want to make sure I don't accidentally make any more. B.Mearns*, KSC 21:51, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and I don't know about User:SykoByte but if you kept calling me and "Spammer", I'd be pretty annoyed and probably report you for it. B.Mearns*, KSC 21:52, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like this matter is finally finished, but just so no-one gets misled about me, the only comments I've ever left on the accusers talk page can be seen here and here. And for the record, only admins can "ban" people on wikipedia, user's don't own their user space, especially not the talk page. B.Mearns*, KSC 20:28, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While I like the idea of this music artist infobox above the others, I think the infobox colors are horrendous (and unreadable). Can I take a shot at establishing some more attractive alternatives? The genre parts should be similar to the [1] established genre colors (tinted so that they all read behind black text), while the solo/band/etc. colors should be different from our album infobox colors. --FuriousFreddy 16:45, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for bot approval

Just so you know, you are supposed to put the request at the bottom of the page. ILovEPlankton 15:14, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, and thank you. B.Mearns*, KSC 15:15, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, I did the same thing 2 weeks ago. ILovEPlankton 15:56, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I like your bot, it sounds like a good idea.

Hello there, thanks for your message regarding disambiguation of pages. It was very kind of you and made me want to go and disambiguate some more - which is obviously a good thing ;-) Thanks again. Politepunk 22:17, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bassists vs. Bass guitarists

Hi. I saw you're maintaining Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Categorization/Progress. Can you explain the intended difference between Category:American bassists and Category:American bass guitarists? It looks like the two are being used interchangeably. Just curious.  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 01:48, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I noticed that it was done a while ago. Maybe I'll just propose a category merge and see what people have to say. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uncategorized categories

I've been working on part of Wikipedia maintenence, classifying the uncategorized categories. There's a list of them at Special:Uncategorizedcategories. Last week Category:WikiProject Musicians was on that list, and I put it with all the others at Category:WikiProjects. If you look there you will see that there are already dozens of other projects under this parent class. Really, I think that's where it ought to be. If you have a better suggestion, please do let me know ... -- ProveIt (talk) 15:04, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Vocalists" categories

Category:R&B vocalists has come up again for CfR, and now people want to know if the same will happen to Vocalists, Vocalists by style, etc. If a decision is going to be made at all, I thought you should probably be in on it. –Unint 22:27, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The CfR for "Vocalists" vs. "Singers" is finally on. –Unint 03:57, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not another inactive WikiProject

You know, by all rights WikiProject Musicians ought to be thriving given how much people edit some of these pages. Certainly not the most neglected corners of Wikipedia, but still not as popular as some certain TV shows or computer technology in general...

Anyway, my ulterior motive right now is to attempt to build a ruling on Cat:Musical groups by genre, whose contents are rather inconsistent. We haven't touched musical groups (or should it be music groups?) at all yet, and now I find myself in the position of planning a new category but not knowing what to call it. With the project page so quiet, I don't know how to get this out to people to reach a consensus short of a mass CfR (which will have to happen soon anyway, but using it to get a consensus in the first place seems reckless)... Any thoughts? –Unint 04:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
