File source problem with File:Ann-Royer.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Ann-Royer.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on

Orphaned non-free media (File:U-of-iowa.jpg)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media
).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:09, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

linking to
Sioux City Orpheum

Hi, I noticed your edit to

Sioux City Orpheum article. I think you didn't understand that the Woodbury County section of the state-wide NRHP list-article is actually in a separate list-article that is mentioned there, at National Register of Historic Places listings in Woodbury County, Iowa, so it wasn't actually necessary to create a new table for it in the state-wide list. But the separate Woodbury County list-article didn't link properly to the Sioux City Orpheum article, either, so because you pointed it out, I edited the Woodbury County list just now. Thanks for making the connection! I also just added to the Orpheum article itself. I hope you might be interested in adding pictures or otherwise developing the Woodbury County NRHP list-article or any other NRHP stuff. If you are interested in NRHP sites or have any questions, please let me know and/or please feel free to post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places. Cheers, doncram (talk) 16:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply

Hey, dude, I think you misunderstand how the state-wide NRHP list-article is supposed to be working.  :) Perhaps it could be labelled better or explained better, but it provides, within it, list-tables for each of the smaller counties. For Woodbury counties and other bigger counties, it provides wikilinks over to their separate list-articles. It is not appropriate to copy Woodbury's table into the state-wide list article. The state-wide list-article is already at a pretty big filesize and cannot hold all the bigger counties' tables. I'll open a discussion section about this at Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Iowa. It would be most helpful if you could please discuss there before making further changes along these lines within the list-article. I do concede in advance that maybe some better labelling/explanation within the list-article would perhaps improve the situation. Thanks! doncram (talk) 19:18, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:OrpheumWlogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:OrpheumWlogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:41, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NRHP infoboxes

Hi Brettstout -- As you've probably noticed i have been noticing your new articles on theatres and have been revising them somewhat. For one thing, I notice you have been creating NRHP infoboxes apparently manually, using information from nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com and crediting that source. You may or may not be aware that is a private, for-profit website that serves up National Register data that is in the public domain.

A better and easier alternative, in my view, is to use the NRHP infobox generator that was created by

wp:NRHP wikipedia editors. Elkman downloaded the same NRHP database but has further corrected various errors not fixed by the NRHP.COM version. Also, the infobox generator provides a cut-and-paste ready infobox with most fields filled out with official NRIS data. All you do is visit http://www2.elkman.net/nrhp/infobox.php, plug in, say "Polk" and "FL", and it will generate output which you can cut and paste over into an article. The infobox comes in with a reference footnote crediting NRIS and date in April, 2008. That is the date of the NRIS database extract that was publicly provided and that is the source for both NRHP.COM and Elkman. The date should not usually be changed, unless in fact you get new data from NRIS directly. The NRHP infobox thus created gives a good start. You can add other information to it from other sources, in which cases you should probably credit each other addition by footnote to your other sources. The NRIS coordinates data is often slightly off, due mostly to changes of the U.S. coordinates system since much of the NRIS coordinates were gathered off of old U.S. Geological Survey quadrant maps, not exactly compatible with current coordinate system used by Google maps etc. Hope this may be of some assistance to you. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:PasDe-Deux.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
