Jedi of the Old Code (JOC)

I'm sorry to inform you that an article which you created, Jedi of the Old Code (JOC), was recently deleted. When reviewing whether an article is appropriate for Wikipedia, administrators follow certain guidelines based upon things such as encyclopedic notability, the ability to verify accurate information, and conflicts of interest. Your article didn't match one or more of these criteria, and as such, it was erased.

Please don't let this discourage you from taking part in Wikipedia — nearly every editor here has had contributions removed at one time or another. If you're new and would like some help on getting used to the encyclopedia, there's some useful resources at

Wikipedia:Introduction and Wikipedia:New contributors' help page
.

Thanks for your understanding. Tijuana Brass 03:25, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion explanation

Thanks for your respectful email. I'm sorry to not get back to you sooner.

To address the shorter part of what you brought up, I suspected a

conflict of interest
, believing you to be a member or otherwise closely related to the group. That's not necessarily a reason to exclude someone as an author, but as the policy goes, persons with a direct relation to the subject of an article are usually "strongly discouraged" from editing it. Check out the link above for more details. If I erred in assuming you were a member of this group, my apologies.

The larger question, though, is about whether this group is notable. You can find some helpful criteria on the issue at

Clan (computer gaming)
article does not link to any.

However, you're free to dispute this, if you feel that you can provide evidence to the contrary. There are two courses of action we can take from here if you want to pursue the matter:

  1. List the article at Wikipedia:Deletion review to receive input from other editors. Keep in mind that you'll need to make some sort of case for restoring the article.
  2. If you have verifiable sources to add, you may move the article's content to your userspace (in other words, as a subpage of User:Celestiagalaxtrine) to work on it until you're ready to move it back to its original location. Keep in mind that if you don't assert the group's notability and move the article back anyway, it will end up deleted again.

I can help you with either of these options. Just leave me a note on my talk page. Tijuana Brass 23:43, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
