Requesting support for a specific case where article may have misunderstood its source

I am unsure of an edit I am proposing for the article on Ian Walker (footballer) (a living person). Briefly, I think the article misunderstood the cited reference and am seeking a vote of confidence or veto for that from another editor, before making the change. I have outlined my concern and proposed change on the target article's talk page here: Talk:Ian Walker (footballer)#Cited source may have been misunderstood Furthermore, I don't even know if this is an accepted or acceptable use of the help-me template. So I'm in bad shape all around today, it seems. My lack of confidence is partly because this article is about a living person. Many thanks in advance from ChrisJBenson (talk) 13:02, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request editor with rollback privileges for article affcted by current events

  • I am seeking the brief assistance of an editor who has Edit Rollback authorization.
  • I am not requesting this authorization for me.
  • An article related to current breaking news (not yet broken!) has been repeatedly vandalized in the last few hours.
  • The sequence of vandalism is well-suited to be reverted by just two rollbacks.

The vandalism target is

World football transfer record
. This is currently a high profile article that will be highly important to some over the next couple of days. It suffered twelve vandalism edits in a one hour period overnight. These acts are consecutive edits by just two editors (obviously same person - see (a)), so the rollback procedure would work well and leave a clearer record.

Nearly all of these edits can be easily identified as vandalism by the following:

(a) The cited source is identical and wrong in each case. The source is a BBC article published on 9 June 2009. The source was apparently retrieved on 9 June 2009 in all cases, though not used until today!. The BBC article is about Kaka, a valid 2009 entry that has been correctly listed here for years.
(b) The added vandalism entries are dated with the year 2013 (and one 2011), making them clearly out of chronological order. The last two valid entries were Kaka, then Christian Ronaldo in 2009, although a new entry will be added in the next 48 hours for Gareth Bale. The very last of these vandalism edits is the premature addition of Gareth Bale. It looks like the same vandal though, because the same 9 June 2009 BBC article is cited.

The vandalism seems to have abated. There were a small number of other vandalism edits in the last two days, but these have already been individually reverted.

The latest in twelve consecutive vandalism edits is: 570119902 at 5:22 25 August 2013
The earliest of the twelve vandalism edits is 570114635 at 4:27 25 August 2013
The last good edit before them was 569976671 at 3:23 24 August 2013 by Bladeboy1889.

Revert of edit to Great Storm of 1987

Hi there, I reverted your edit to

Great Storm of 1987 as I think you read Return period of the winds as representing the average reoccurrence time of the storm, which is I think precicely the cause of the "Myth" about the context of the storm, and has been perpetuated ever since. Have a read of the Return period article, and if you still feel the distinction is imaginary, please feel free to contact me or discuss with me at the talk page of the article, and we'll see what kind of consensus we can come up with.Lacunae (talk) 16:41, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply
