If the article was about just the council then it would be Bournemouth Borough Council. But as the article is about the borough as a whole it is Bournemouth (borough). For example,
- Alternatively, the parts of the article about the borough itself should be returned to the Bournemouth page and then a Bournemouth Borough Council page would then replace the Bournemouth (borough) page, though it would not include, for example, the pink infobox. David 20:00, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Dorset map removed
I note that you have removed the map above from the article as you feel that Bournemouth is not shown. Glancing at the map I feel it should be removed but the problem is not that Bournemouth is not there (it is) but that it appears not to be because firstly, Poole is not separated from the rest of Dorset (it should be an area to the west of Bournemouth on the map) but also, and I think this is the part that makes you feel Bournemouth is not there, Christchurch has been left off the area shaded as Dorset. Christchurch should cover an area to the east of Bournemouth on the coast and extending round to the north as Bournemouth Airport is in Christchurch administratively. The area marked in dark red is Bournemouth but does not appear to be so because of these omissions. Go and have a cup of coff...no, sorry, Caro or whatever..?! - No I am sure that the red shaded area of this map is Christchurch. The area shaded pink is Dorset County Council (with the divisions being the district councils). Both Bournemouth and Poole are entirely absent. Compare it with the image shown in the infobox at the top of the Bournemouth article. That map shows Dorset sub-divided into the different local government authorities. --Steve Cottrell (talk) 14:22, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes you're right - both of them are left off. Sorry about that! Britmax (talk) 22:13, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Since you are listed under Wikipedians in Dorset, I am hoping you may be interested in saving the article on Dorset. The article was promoted to featured status in 2005, when the standards for FA were not as strict, and therefore it is soon to be reviewed once again. Currently the article, if only for lack of references, would fail to pass the Featured article review.
- How?
Your help, however much, will be vital in keeping this important article at FA. At WikiProject Dorset, the WP devoted to Dorset-related articles, we will be helping to organise restoration of the article. As well, there will be discussion on Dorset's talk page. If you know anyone else who may be interested in helping, contact them and/or copy this into their talk page. Please, do get involved!

Bournemouth Coy Pond
Hello, Steve. Thank you for posting an excellent History of Bournemouth page, which I came across today after discovering an early reference - in 1704 - to what was then estimated to be a 50-acre inclosure at "Boorne Bottom". It's probably part of the estate mentioned in a document dated 1740 and sold to Sir George Rose in 1790, although the size of this estate is then recorded at just 25 acres.
While not wishing to split hairs, I wonder what was your source for the assertion that Stourfield Chase occupied the southern and western parts of the heath? When I researched the subject a few years ago I wrote this essay, and found no evidence of the hunting ground extending far from the then-inhabited hamlets alongside the Stour, though of course this may simply because I was looking at the names of fields and inclosures which of course didn't exist across the western parts of the heath.
Best wishes, Stephen Gadd --Docuracy (talk) 17:31, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Stephen, thank you for your message. I have looked back and found that I added that paragraph with others on April 6, 2007 with the edit summary Christchurch Inclosure Act 1802. I will check further and determine the source of this assertion. Your own this essay shows Christopher Saxton’s map of 1575 depicting Sturfeld Heathe with a western boundary of the Bourne stream. George Ivison Tapps
Hi, Steve. I'd like to flesh out the biography of George Ivison Tapps, and have been unable to find any source of your note that he was 'widely known as a "wilful and hard living confidante" of the Prince of Wales'. Do you recall where you found that, please? Thanks again, Stephen Docuracy (talk) 06:38, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Docuracy, I seem to remember that it was related to when he was made a baronet in 1791. It wasn't from the London Gazette but maybe another press report from around that time. I'm sorry I can't remember something more specific, I have since learnt the importance of referencing sources. 13:00, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
