sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.
Since you say that you're a new (Wikipedia) editor, here's a welcome template with links to helpful policy and instruction pages.
Hello, Dale. Normally this would be the place for a new user
Welcome
template, but it's clear you don't need one as you already know how to edit. (But welcome anyway!)
Thank you for your edit to

Hello. Actually, I am a new user, but I have written for money for over 35 years (wow, I'm impressed). I've made a few changes to Wikipedia so far, but I'm only doing minor edits, and am trying to stay within the guidelines.
I looked at it. Interesting! I'm still working on a map of the trails.
A couple of suggestions. You can sign your posts by putting ~~~~ at the end. A bot will come along and add your name on some pages, but not on others. And when you add a new section to a talk page, putting a colon : at the beginning will indent it from the left margin; more colons, more indentations. To add bullet points use *.
Creating a footnote can be confusing-- let me know if you want any help.
If you have any questions feel free to ask, either here (I've watchlisted this page) or on my talk page. I like to keep threads together so I'll probably answer wherever you post them.

Hello. I have been trying to put my toe into the water. I've entered

I'm going slowly. Since I have spare minutes, I do this at work. Any comments gratefully received. And happy new year.Dale662 (talk) 15:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
