Icehouse at GAN
An article you nominated, Icehouse, has been reviewed: see it's review page. Someone called Shaidar_cuebiyar has already jumped in and tried to fix up the article. You will probably have to look over it to see if it's better than it was.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:21, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Now you're just showing off! Thanks for the info - I hadn't seen those articles. But just to hedge my ignorance on this (and recover my frail ego - which you've smashed)... I'll tell you that it was actually Flower's debut album Icehouse which has the song "Icehouse" written by the future leader of Icehouse when he was living in an Icehouse. (So there!)
- BTW, did you check all those pesky - – — in the article? I'm still not sure I got all the Year–Year ones right. Which do you use with 1978–current or mid-1970?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:00, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that one about Keith Welsh: I did come across somewhere, but didn't get around to putting it in for some unknown reason.
- Back to their performances. You're right they performed at those shows in 2006 as one offs. The September 2007 show did not invlolve ARIA, (afaik), but was the last known show I could confirm with the Official website down: fansite has it but I needed an independent ref. It should still remain to show the 2007 line-up is different from that on the last Battle of Choirs show: which is now their last known performance. Did you see it?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:11, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- You're right again, re: ARIA performance, I have a copy of Iva Davies acceptance speech somewhere around here but didn't know which version of the band actually performed: it must be somewhere on the fansite but couldn't find it in media reports of the event. I know he singled out KW for special thanks in founding Flowers and for being so tall! As for Choirs question: yeah.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 21:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Passed.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:56, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the congrats and userboxerz addition. Need your opinion (see below).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Opinion sought
Do you have any suggestion for another collaboration article? Or, if you're busy on other projects, should I just keep going on ARIA HoFs trying to get them up to B-class? Take your time, think about it.
I'll be doing more Unassessed to Assessed for a few days - doesn't require much on the research side but the attention span gets tested on some of them.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Paul Kelly? You're on! I'll do some internet searches and we can have a go from Monday.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 21:22, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Paul Kelly
I suggest coordinating by working on my sandbox copy: that way my mistakes won't become too obvious to everyone else. This time I haven't transferred CATs or translateds. Also look closely at the image in the infobox... I've learnt to place a : in front of image code or a bot will come along and zapp it for using the image on an unauthorised page. (It happened to my Icehouse copy's Man of Colours image). Just have to remember to undo the : when depositing back to main article!
My first minor job: I intend reducing the sub-subheadings under the Discography Albums subheading and converting them to bolded names for his various guises. Thus reducing the unnecessary depth of the contents box: it'll get deeper again when we divide his biography into appropriate sections. I believe the Lead will also need to include the more important of his guises but that will have to wait till later.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:44, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- First major edit transferred over to main Paul Kelly article: Lead is beefed up but not fiinished, sectioned biog into blocks per band (mostly), added refs to have fun with later. More to follow - hope you can see where I'm going with this. Should videos/DVDs be separate from Discography? Since he's done so many Paul Kelly and... does the article need a members list?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:47, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Worked on Coloured Girls/Messengers sectn; will tackle Band & others sectn in the next day or so; saw your added refs in 2000s sectn; more to follow.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:54, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just did a search at ARIA awards, for History by Artist. Including the HoF, he's won EIGHT & been nom'd another SIXTEEN times! I think the article needs an awards/nominations section.
- His kudos at APRA Awards are harder to track down: they don't have a good search engine. I remember "To Her Door" was in their Top 30 best Australian songs (according to some bloke called Dan). But surely his songwriting has been acknowledged more directly by APRA?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:00, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Found a few APRA Award wins by manually searching through each year's winners: very laborious. So far I've got "Treaty" as Song of the Year in 1991 (shared with Yothu Yindi) and Songwriter of the Year for 1999. I haven't gone through all the Noms yet but have got 1998 Song of Year for "How to Make Gravy" and 2002 Most Performed Country Work for "Wish I Was a Train" (shared with Troy Cassar-Daley). I'm going to be working on his awards at my sandbox. So far the wikitables look very much like Delta Goodrem's (yeah, I shudder too), I'll get into fixing them in the next day or so.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:24, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
BTW, I reformatted two quotes you added to main article.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:24, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Did I just blink and see you hare past? Good stuff on the awards at my sandbox & on the new album articles. I'm still to finish the Paul Kelly band sectn but RealLife (tm) intruded via workPlace interruptions. Does PK need a template?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:41, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm plodding along tortoise-like now, a little more in Paul Kelly Band, but not yet finished, thanks for the awards assists.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Copyright concerns, Eurogliders
Hello. The article
Start > C-class > B-class
I like the assessment template used: I think I'll flog it when I go back to assessing Unassessed
Icehouse album
I've also had a go at Icehouse providing a separate section of Prose from the Lead - what do you think?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Good to see you follow my Lead... (tongue firmly in cheek).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:57, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Kudos Dan.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Charlotte's Web
Hi! Your sandbox list of WA bands is great. Can I give you some info about Charlotte's Web? Members were Jeff Lowe, Flick Dear, Kym Skipworth, Laurie Mansell and Michael Zampogna. They played indy pop. Short Time Straight was their six song album; Favourite Game was a single. Associations: Bob's Love Child, Indian Givers, Wild Honey. This information is from Kym, my wife, and is on the STS CD. Davidcohen (talk) 11:04, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
From Little Things Big Things Grow
From Little Things Big Things Grow could be C-class with another Prose section (just had to get that one in!) after the Lead. Needs full personnel list, was gonna say photo needed too, but next time I looked it was there. Songwriters needs APRA (or equivalent) ref. Charting/accreditation if known? Some of the wording needs neutral point of viewing. For more ideas use the above assessment plate but sub song/single for album.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Someone's had a go at FLTBTG, they reckon its B-class! Who am I to disagree?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:54, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Paul Kelly
Main text of Paul Kelly is now up to raw B-class but it needs you to go through it with the proverbial fine-toothed comb: copyediting, neutralise any biased point of view, pare down overwordage (I waffle too much) and generally pretend that someone might do a GA review on it someday. I haven't looked at the awards or discography sections yet - I'll get to them tomorrow or over the weekend I hope.
I like what you've been doing on the lateral pages (albums, bands, singles) too.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:48, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've started on the Awards and nominations section, covered both APRA and APRA-AGSC Awards. I'll get into ARIA Awards et al tomorrow or so.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 12:47, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Finished first run through for the Awards. Can you look them over, fix any errors? Secondly, are we putting it into the main article or a separate PK awards article? If latter, we will have to fix subheads and write a separate Lead before transcluding from sandbox.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:51, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Now back to the main article: have you had a chance to scan it with your fine-toothed comb? Next up will be the discography: don't you just lurrrve wikitables?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:51, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Not quite yet, I'm back at PK awards: see Paul Kelly "Awards and nominations" section vs List of Paul Kelly awards at my sandboxes. The latter has only just started and looks suspiciously like a Crowded House list (its FL). I'm assuming we will be creating a separate List page (second sandbox) as opposed to a section (first sandbox) in the main article (takes up too much room).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:06, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Paul Kelly list of awards
Dan has the plan! We'll go for sandbox 2 variety. I've already transcluded the ARIA awards (but not their notes yet) will follow up with further work over the next few days. Will list the awards in order of ARIA, then APRA, APRA/AGSC, CMAA, Mo and VicCountry.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:37, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Transcluded rest of awards to sandbox 2. Check out the page carefully and fix any probs you find before I create the article and then link it into the main PK article.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:29, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll post the new page soon: Work/Wiki conflict (tm) at moment.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:25, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Mine tells me I sent you an email but I've been looking for yours for awhile might have to try a different one: see if it works.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
PK discography
Sorry about the confusion, its now at my 1st sandbox, I must have cancelled an edit instead of saving it: I'll just have to re-do that bit. So far, I've only looked at the music videos' wikitable: do we need the 'bands' column to differentiate between his various guises or cover it all by numerous notes?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- First run through of singles to 2003 is ready for your inspection. Next is the studio albums list.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- According to my source on the Kent Report, "Darling it Hurts" by PK&CG peaked at #25, it entered the charts on 20 Oct 86 and was in for 15 weeks. If you've other Kent data then change it, my source is usually accurate but I trust you to follow up: that's one of the reasons its good to have a collaborator checking everything.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:36, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Albums (studio releases) wiktable formatted: chasing down accreditations via ARIA.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:02, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Does that make Gossip Platinum then?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:34, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
EPs
Check others e.g. Nine Inch Nails discography. I believe EPs are included with studio releases even if ARIA lists them in its singles charts: positions should thus be transferred to the relevent wikitable (which I'm still formatting). However EPs are not counted towards the total of studio albums.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Check your SandBoxShaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:17, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
DVDs
Hate to lumber you with more, but did Live Apples DVD chart? I've got it getting Gold from ARIA accreditations (see my sandbox for ref) and have added it to the compilations/live wikitable. It needs to be mentioned on the Stolen Apples page and may need its own page (that's your call <-- like the handball?).
I'm sure there were other DVDs/Videos that need to be added to the wikitable: so I'm tracking them down.
While talking about your new page at
- According to Knucklehead International Marty Smith's resumé other Paul Kelly videos were directed by Tony Mahony and produced by Tanya Stankovic. But don't see "Somewhere in the City" anywhere.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:17, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Soundtracks/scores
AFAIK, Seven Deadly Sins (or any similar work) is not included in his discography if it's contribution(s) to a soundtrack but it is included if he's the composer of the soundtrack/score. So Lantana et al are in, but Starstruck is out (although the single "Rocking Institution" is in). We do need to include the score for Funerals and Circuses.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:39, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Now it's starting to get interesting, I've just seen the soundtrack listing at Rateyourmusic, (also shows the front cover). IMDb doesn't list PK as composer for the 7 Deadly series. I'm thinking of Fireflies which I have in the discography. Now you're making a good argument for 7 Deadlys being added.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:56, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Lucky
I have started the lucky article - the zydecats should be done! any help in spruicing up lucky's article would be appreciated
If poss that is :)
I think format of his works can be improved into a table perhaps, and his zydecat bio web page has too much information - I asked somno last week for any help from factiva - we need more third party reliable sources than his own material - and he (lucky) also hasnt replied to a gmail if he wanted to offer any extra 3rd party refs and i think he is holiday as well
Hey started already - I think the issue with a character like this is adequate spread of pre freo existence and freo plus - not weighting too much to the usa experience and less on the west oz living - although very different - needs to be balanced out imho
Just about to jump off and saw the big W - yeah the web persons were doing that I wasnt sure of the record covers/cd covers did the same :( - cheers and hope something goes back in - it looks like things out before they go in :) - cheers and thanks
