Yo

This is a dynamic IP assigned by the University of California at Santa Cruz. I didn't do the editing, but there's a good chance someone was doing it on his behalf. Anyways, take care. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.233.38.198 (talk) 17:45, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

That copyright warning dates back to January 2010, so it was undoubtedly meant for someone else using your dynamic IP address. And since it has taken me several months to notice this comment, chances are you too will have moved to a new IP address long ago! Best wishes! --Deskford (talk) 23:54, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Wikiproject notes in articles

Pls see Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Wikiproject notes in articles - The issues may be much bigger then just the note on the pages - However I believe the viability of the note its self is what we should talk about at this time.Moxy (talk) 23:56, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't have access to HighBeam - please go ahead and add any references that it reveals. I keep finding mentions of Catto Long Barrow in inappropriate places, usually with a reference to The Modern Antiquarian, which appears to be an unreliable source since it is made up of user contributions. I suspect an editor on some kind of self-publicity drive that has never been cleaned up. --Deskford (talk) 11:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll try to add some bits and pieces to it tomorrow - or at least reference some of the info given. Do you mind if I change the refs to 'cite web' etc?

No, please change them as you feel appropriate! --Deskford (talk) 12:04, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Martin James Bartlett

I've temporarily semi-protected that, and I'll leave a note on the IP again. I'll try and keep an eye on it, too, but if you see it happen again, let me know and I'll kick it up a notch. I'm hoping that this will either end the behavior or force discussion on it, we'll see. Thanks. --j⚛e deckertalk 22:20, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Heh. You beat me to adding the warning.  :) --j⚛e deckertalk 22:21, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you Gerda! Ah yes, that article on Cortes, Aberdeenshire is one of the very few articles that I actually started. Usually I'm just tidying up bits and pieces on other articles, but it's good to know this is appreciated! --Deskford (talk) 20:17, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Felix Mendelssohn

May I inquire as to the reason you again removed the editing that I did in the article on Felix Mendelssohn? The citation I gave is an internal one-- to the German version of Wikipedia-- and has presumably been vetted previously in that context.

MRWick1 Mrwick1 (talk) 14:33, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

The German Wikipedia, just like the English Wikipedia, can be edited by anyone, so we can't regard it as a reliable source. Please read
WP:RS for a broad guide as to what is acceptable as a source, and feel free to add the information to the Mendelssohn article if you can give a reliable source to back it up. If you are unsure if a source is acceptable it might be best to discuss it on Talk:Felix Mendelssohn before adding it. You will find that editors are particularly stringent in demanding reliable sources in the Felix Mendelssohn article because it has been reviewed and declared a "good article". Any changes will be scrutinised to ensure the quality is maintained. --Deskford (talk

Josiah Robertson

Hi,

Harmon Foundation article, I added the name. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk

It looks like the article was deleted because it didn't demonstrate Josiah Robertson's notability. Perhaps if there was a better article it would survive, and he could then be added to the list. (Apologies for being very slow to reply – not been around much lately!) --Deskford (talk) 18:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
