Referendums

Hello Didi. The phrase "referendum" is a generic term that refers to the vote itself. "Popular initiative" (you may want to correct your spelling!), "federal order" etc refers to how the issue has been brought to a popular vote, so we have referendums held on a number of different types of questions. For me it is diffucult to discuss that item in English, but as far as I can judge the terminology is not clear in this Wikipedia and there should be almost be respected the therminology of the Swiss Federal Constitution. I cannot really correkt the issues, but I can remark for sure that it is not correct as it is now. Terms as "referendum" of course have not exactly the same meaning in different states as there are different definitions under different national jurisdictions. The exact wording should be observed. In the concrete case we have had a votation about a popular iniciative.DidiWeidmann (talk) 23:03, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think the issue is that what you refer to as a "votation" (there is no such word in English) is described in English as a referendum, regardless of how the issue reached the popular vote. As you can see in
This article also denotes the differences between the referendum questions. Number 57 23:24, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply

I see you have posted this issue in several places - it would be best to keep the discussion in one place, so perhaps here? Number 57 23:24, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
