An even better memory configurator can be found at [1] http://www.edgetechcorp.com/memory/ where even Printer and other (non-PC) equipment can be chosen to determine type or ram required. I will agree that what is needed is a technical article style illustrated list of all the types of memory with the slots annotated to the 10th of a mm. If it's not on Wikipedia - where else could it be found! Broozm (talk) 06:18, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Bomis
Hello, do you have a source somewhere who says that Bomis has stopped working? --Stryn(t) 12:49, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- No. I followed the external links in Bomis and Nupedia to the Way-Back Machine on archive.org -- the youngest links on the Way-Back page for bomis.com are URL parking pages filled with paid links; the youngest genuine pages (NSFW) are, maybe, 2004 or 2005 (I didn't check them all); I'm guessing the last meaningful updates to the site were in 2002 or 2003. This sort of analysis could be WP:OR and requires a better knowledge of how the Way-Back Machine works than I have.
- I didn't try Google. The death of an unimportant porn site is unlikely to be newsworthy. If all else fails, I would personally consider "personal communications" from both Tim Shell and Jimmy Wales as the best available reliable source, if their memories agree.
- An ambitious editor could do a bit of OR on the beginnings, growth, and decline of Nupedia, Wikipedia, Citizendium, etc, to illustrate for the general public why, in the long run, only Wikipedia survives and grows. (15 years ago who'da thought?) Try to publish it in a respectable newspaper or magazine (even web version would do). Then another editor could cite it.
- Sorry I can't be more helpful. — Solo Owl (talk) 23:15, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
