Hi elpongo! This is the person from Glastonbury ct. Well im not sure who gave the award out. You can not find it on Glastonbury public schools for some reason. If you visit that school and gideon wells school they were both awared the same thing one in 2004,and 2005. Excellent! I figured you'd enjoy doing it yourself rather than having someone do it for you, yet more of the magic of the wiki! As for the use of the word Nazi, I don't get offended as such; more like acutely annoyed at the irony of labeling a Jew as a Nazi (though there were in fact Jewish members of the Nazi party, believe it or not!) It does bother me, though, that the word Nazi has been so watered down that it can be used for any mildly negative connotation (e.g. The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld), that's a bit of a demotion from genocide of Jews, Romani, Gays, Handicapped, etc. But I guess there's really no fighting the vagaries of language, is there? On that note, there isn't a clear connection between Gypsies and the word gyp, check out this site. To change "Similar operating systems to "Superior operating systems" isn't a factual change. It's a change from a neutral adjective to one that conveys an opinion that can't be factually verified and is inherently controversial.--Prosfilaes 13:41, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that one out for me Prosfilaes, it saves me some typing. As for the criticism section of your edit, question C++ Template, it was unsourced, potentially controversial, and loaded with

cite them before you add information to the encyclopedia, especially controversial information. I would advise you to not take this as a license to delete information from random articles that you think is unsourced for at least two reasons. First many articles use a bibliography style reference section instead of in-line footnotes— the section is often mislabeled as an External links section. Secondly, wildly deleting information would be a violation of the "Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point" guideline and would likely get you blocked from editing. Regarding your deleting one of the templates I left on your talk page; while the current consensus is that you're allowed to do so, it is strongly frowned upon. It is completely pointless because every prior version of your talk page is visible in its edit history, and it makes you look like you're trying to hide something. To use a metaphor, it's like quickly stuffing your own umbrella under your jacket while in a department store; you may not have done anything wrong per se, but you better bet that the store's security will be watching you. I'm finally back! Thanks for everyone's help and patience while my access was down. I really missed being on here, I kept trying to correct errors in newspapers and such!

For anyone who's interested, here's what happened. My

Hotspot to order a new card, but when I finally got the chance, Verizon's site was down for maintenance. I gave in and bought a new card at a local Verizon Wireless store, only to find out that the included software and drivers weren't compatible with Windows Vista! So I had to go back to the hotspot and download the latest version; however Vista decided to download several updates at the same time and reset some of my settings causing a device conflict between the aircard and my Palm TX

that took me a few days to figure out. Anyways, I've finally got everything set up this morning, yay! :-)

Other contemporary artists are posted on wikipedia...does that mean we have to delete all illustrators? Hello and thanks for writing. I nominated the article for deletion for exactly the reasons I stated in the deletion nomination. I could find no third party references regarding the subject of the article, all I could find are sources with which the subject has a direct affiliation or membership with; please read the verifiability policy to understand why this is a problem. If there is a mention of Mrs. Chernik in third party publication of some sort (online or off, it doesn't matter) then you can add it to the article with proper referencing. Examples of these would be a write up in the New York Times or something like that.

As for the other artists you mention, if you think the same things apply to their articles as to Mrs. Chernik's, then feel free to nominate them for deletion under the same rationale- I may do so myself when/if I get the time and if the same rationale does indeed apply. I see you have added several general references to the article without actually adding any significant content to the article or indicating which sections of the article your references may be pertinent to. Also, the Talent Speaks article is still a primary source since it states on their About Talent Speaks page, "...empower independent artists to achieve success through self promotion." Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like this site is for advertisement purposes by the talents mentioned. You might want to read the relevant notability policy to get an idea of what is needed to establish notability for a person. Hello Elias! I just received an email today from a student who interviewed me for a project...(it has to be six or eight months ago now), introducing me to Wikipedia. I always thought this was a real encyclopedia - the user editing feature is very unique!

Anyway, he sent me an about the artist page that he created from the interview.... I have a question for you - it's apparent that editing information about youself is strongly frowned upon.... I'd really like to remove the information about my daughters (i'm a bit uncomfortable with that), am I allowed to pop in there and do that? Or do I have to ask him to do that? I can..but i'm afraid to initiate a conversation with him again...he's a bit....um..chatty.

Everything else seems okay. Several of my contemporaries (other artists and influences) also have articles about themselves ... i notice there's a section about influences - can i cite them as influences? Or does someone else have to cite them. For instance, Diterlizzi is a friend of mine, and has an article. Olivia, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, and Amy Brown as well (especially Amy Brown).

One of my old students (I think it is one of my old students ... it must be ten years ago now) posted information up as well on it. I don't know who the other people are. Pretty neat, you have to love the internet.

Hello Mrs. Chernik.

I have removed the names of your daughters from the article at your quite reasonable request.

You are quite right that editing of an article by that article's subject is discouraged because of the fact that it is difficult to impossible to be properly objective, the autobiography policy explains the reasons for this very well. If you feel you have information and references relevant to the article, the best course is to post them on the article's talk page and allow other editors to make the changes.

As a side note, the fact that we're both from Ellington isn't nearly as much of a coincidence as it might seem at first. I have contributed to the Ellington, Connecticut article and I regularly check the "What links here" button for that article. I discovered your article very quickly after it was created because of that.

Lastly, please do not erase the comments from talk pages as you did here. It is considered wrong to even remove your own comments from talk pages, much less those of other editors. If you want to take back a statement you've posted on a talk page, the accepted procedure is to use the strike out function, like this. You should only do this for your own comments- editing the comments of others is looked on as vandalism.

Hello Elias!! Thanks for erasing their names (a parent can't be too careful nowadays! There are a lot of strange folks floating around!. Thank you for the tutoral on the proper way to suggest input. I can't see the page right now, I'm not sure why it's not coming up (my internet has been very spotty this morning - letting some pages through, and not others - it probably has to do with the fires down here in Florida - the whole state is burning! lol). I didn't have internet for half the day yesterday. I checked out the Ellington page - don't have a thing to add! You're doing a great job on it! :D Sorry for the comments thing - I haven't really made any contributions to any pages; and don't really have the motivation to. :) - so I apologize for the blunder! :) I was able to take a moment and see some of the pages of my contemporaries - some of them friends of mine. Not necessarily, each article is discussed on its own merits and someone has to nominate them for the process. I'm not sure who the artists in question would be and wouldn't nominate them myself unless I did some significant digging; that's not something I typically do except for good reasons like copyright violations (something you as an artist will appreciate as important). I only ran across the article about you because of its association with Ellington, and I tried to improve the article and/or get others to improve it for several months before I nominated it for deletion. Even though I did nominate it for deletion, I had hoped that a good rationale for notability per

WP:BIO would have come up during the deletion discussion, but that did not happen and the article was deleted. I see that you have opened up a deletion review at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 May 17#Echo Chernik and some better assertions towards notability have been raised and you might have a good chance of getting the article restored. Concerning your point on the Hartford webpage that the history would be too long in the main article... I reviewed other cities articles (such as Boston page)that were noted as being a featured article or a A class article. These articles were much longer than the Hartoford page and sections were not split off into different pages. Can you help me understand why the a featured or A class page would be longer and more detailed? My goal is to do the samething for the Hartford page once I get some time and additional pictures.
