Categories, categories...

Hey Freecyprus - I've noticed the work you have been doing creating all these articles on Greek companies - great job. I just have a small suggestion for categorising them. When you add these two tags [[Category:Lists of companies by country|Greece]] [[Category:Companies of Greece| ]] it adds the article to this page [1] and this page [2]respectively. The first page is only supposed to produce a list of lists (wierd concept) while the second page is supposed to produce a list of Greek companies. You really only need to use the second tag above to add the article to the correct category. Otherwise, the country lists end up covered in Greek companies! Happy editing! Paxse 13:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Addition/removals from list of companies

Hi, i think that you have to accept that avra mineral water or other water products from various parts of Greece and Cyprus do not constitute a company; they are just products and they do not belong to the list. If you kindly have a look to similar lists of companies from other countries you will be suprised to find out that most companies have their own wiki page not just an internet site. There are more than 60,000 companies currently in Greece. Where do we draw a line? All the Greeks work equally hard and they have the right to be represented. But we have to be realistic. If we continue to just add companies without any limitation very soon the list will be truncated or worse the page will be inactivated. I appreciate your interest in greek companies but let me tell you that i am equally sympathetic to the hard work of all Greeks being Greek myself thank you Ipodamos

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 11:52, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Avra mineral water

Please, do not add Avra mineral water or similar water products in the list of Greek companies. Avra is produced and distributed by the Coca cola 3E company that is already included in the list. I can see you keep adding avra even that i hve this info in history. Did your continuous addition of avra, meant that you disagree? Ipodamos

Avra water part 2

Freecyprus: this is the 10th time i am deleting the avra mineral water and other water products. You have been adding them repeatedly without discussing it even that you know that there are people that disagree. You have failed yet to make your point on why you re still including products in a list of companies Ipodamos

Request reason:

I don't understand what is wrong with including a company's web site on the Greek Companies List. Wiki is full of articles with links to companies, why is this list being targeted?

Decline reason:

Lists are supposed to be lists, not a directory, or a list of items that is advertising in nature. There are indeed other lists, and I have also cleaned other lists of external links, per

this). I am declining the unblock on this request, I strongly suggest you read some policies and guidelines first. Also because there are items above of similar nature. Please start discussing. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

I don't mean to "advertise" as I don't work for a Greek company at all. I just love my homeland of Greece and I saw that there is a list of Greek companies here on Wiki and I wanted to contribute to it. I will continue to contribute to it if that's ok but I won't add the website of the companies that I add.

It is not that you are advertising, but the list does not comply with
WP:NOT#DIRECTORY, and is as such advertising. Most of those links are perfectly OK on the wikipage about the seperate companies (and there is where they are supposed to be). --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

Reality check

Since you seemed to have missed this:

Reality check
here
:
Wikipedia is neither a mirror nor a repository of links, images, or media files. Wikipedia articles are not:
1) Mere collections of external links or Internet directories. There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:External links for some guidelines.
2) Mere collections of internal links, except for disambiguation pages when an article title is ambiguous, and for lists to assist with the organisation of articles. Please follow the guidelines outlined at Wikipedia:Lists#List naming and list contents.
What you've done is create a link farm of companies which do not show the slightest sign of being eligible for articles. In fact, I recognized one as one which has been speedily deleted multiple times after being created by yourself, and my guess is that if I start clicking around the few blue links I'll find even more speedy-deletion candidates. And I suspect that the new ones you gin up will have exactly the same problems.

And yes, I HAVE discussed this and cited the actual rules; you, on the other hand, have waved your hands frantically as a substitute for actual arguments and in your zeal to convert a navigation aid into a nationalist's cheap substitute for the

Yellow Pages. And I'm supposed to take you seriously WHY, exactly? --Calton | Talk 01:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

Nope, it's not really easy to "touch" any of my nerves. Name calling and bullying never seemed to work with Greeks all these 8,000+ years and probably won't work with me.  :-) I have my opinions and my responses to your comments and I expressed them. It's obvious to all you would like to frighten folks into not saying anything but that usually doesn't work in the free world. Freecyprus

Name calling and bullying never seemed to work with Greeks all these 8,000+ years and probably won't work with me - And yet you feel free to indulge in it yourself: is this a form of Greek exceptionalism, or simply universal jerkitude on your part? --Calton | Talk 11:52, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, wrong again (you keep striking out). Based on the comments on your own user page, YOU are the one who resorts to name-calling and bullying. I think what bothers you the most about me is that my comments are calm, mature and civil. What also bothers you about me is the fact that I'm not frightened by a bully who hides behind his computer. As to your comment about "Greek exceptionalism"...in addition to name-calling and bullying, we could probably add racism to your long list of character flaws. Cheers, FC.

I see you come from the "I'm rubber, you're glue" school of rhetoric.
YOU are the one who resorts to name-calling and bullying Oh really?:
Also seems to me that you use Wikipedia to over-compensate for some personal inadequecies you might have (like some men overcompensate by yelling at their wives or buying large SUVs)
The problem with telling obvious falsehoods on Wikipedia is how easily they're discovered. Again, a read of
this, too
-- might prove informative.
Oh, and your attempt to play the racism card is pretty much beneath contempt. --Calton | Talk 21:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ouch, REALLY touched a nerve there. The problem is that you yourself haven't read Wikipedia's rules about personal attacks (or you have and don't feel these rules apply to you, only to others) We are all trying to make Wiki a friendly and welcoming place. You are not. Anyone can read the comments on your user page. I repeat: countless users have complained about your rudeness and lack of civility. All of your comments are there for all to read, now and forever. You are a bully, pure and simple. We will all continue to make Wikipedia a welcoming place, whether you like it or not. Freecyprus 21:47, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again, more from the "I'm rubber , you're glue" school of rhetoric: the term for that is psychological projection. Have a read, you may learn something about yourself.
As for touching a nerve; yes, when a dishonest fanatic calls me a racist, you, I tend to be annoyed. And given your outbursts and edit-warring, you're not exactly in a position to be giving out advice about civility or bullying.
We will all continue to make Wikipedia a welcoming place... We? Is there a vast community of provincialist edit-warriors who've confused Wikipedia with the
Yellow Pages
that I've somehow missed?
The problem is that you yourself haven't read Wikipedia's rules about personal attacks (or you have and don't feel these rules apply to you, only to others) - Speaking of projection, again. You've been pointed to the rules, you've been blocked -- twice in two days -- for violating the rules, and you have the chutzpah to gas on about how I haven't read the rules? Or is it that you have and don't feel these rules apply to you, only to others? --Calton | Talk 10:22, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We can only repeat what we've all been telling you: relax, take it easy, don't be so rude, try to be civil, learn to not belittle people, try to learn how to make Wikipedia a kind and welcoming place. Cheers, FC. Freecyprus 10:25, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar

At SQL_Server_Integration_Services you replaced a list "...x or y or z" with "either x or y or z"; I replaced that, in turn, with "x, y, or z". We use "either" when there are only two cases. If you need to be explicit you can use "any of x, y, or z". (This was in regards to use of variables.) Pete St.John 19:50, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
