Hello and welcome. Could you upload more state Koppen maps based on the new climate normals? The US map seems to have all the data but is not quite large enough to derive good state maps like the New York and New Jersey maps. Thanks! B137 (talk) 05:23, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@B137: Hello, I will work on creating more state maps over the coming weeks. My goal is to eventually get to all 50. Icy98 (talk) 14:34, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great. User:Redtitan made tons of maps a few years ago, most of which uploaded in 2016, using PRISM data that seems to use a 1985-2015 normals period since they also show a bit of expanded C (-3 isotherm) and Dfa climates over 1981 to 2010 data. B137 (talk) 22:25, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I'm still on Wikipedia, and recently uploaded a Koppen map for Washington with the 1980-2020 PRISM data in late December (which seems to have been replaced). I was planning on doing other states when I had more time, but things came up. Great to see other people on here doing climate maps! Would you consider providing a note or credit in your Wikimedia commons uploads for the overall design? These are very close/near identical to my maps (even the credit language is identical), and I think would qualify as a derivative work under the CC-by-SA 4.0 license. In any case, I would appreciate the shout out. Thanks! Redtitan 02:05, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Yes, you're right, I reused your color scheme and overall design and just updated the data. I would be happy to provide you with a credit! If you like, you can let me know the wording and which field to add it to. Apologies for not already doing so, but I'm very new to Wikipedia contributions. Also, apologies for replacing your map of Washington -- after doing many other states, I didn't notice that Washington was already updated. Feel free to revert that one, since you were first. I added attribution to the summary section of the full US map. If this looks good to you, I'll add the same line to all other uploads (there's no way to do this in batch, is there?) Icy98 (talk) 12:59, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Koppen maps

Hey there, and thanks for making all the climate maps with updated data. I was wondering if you by chance happened to have a KML of the data or something else I'd be able to open in Google Earth or a similar program? I'd love to be able to zoom in on some of the higher resolution detail in these. Thanks! Highway 89 (talk) 05:15, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have the data stored as TIF files. I'm not sure if Google Earth can open those, but they should be supported by most GIS programs. Icy98 (talk) 22:26, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
