Tours

Please stop italicizing tours, like you did in this edit, as well as this one. Speaking of which, why did you do the latter? None of that is constructive. Yves (talk) 05:33, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Um, no. Please stop edit warring. It is not a matter of opinion, but fact: please read
disruptive editing or I may have to report you. Yves (talk
) 05:40, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Also, please read
WP:CRYSTAL tells us that nothing is definite until it has taken place, so Swift's tour is still upcoming, and will remain upcoming until the ninth of February of next year; there is the possibility of it not happening, which is why "upcoming" is used on all future events and releases. To address another point, I see you've made no attempt to contact me, choosing instead to edit war and communicate through passive-aggressive edit summaries, or none at all when reverting. Please take the effort to use talk pages as part of duties of a Wikipedian: the interaction part of the fourth pillar. Thank you. Yves (talk
) 05:54, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your response on my talk page. Here are my thoughts. I don't understand how you see a concert tour "can be considered an opera, musical, orchestral work or play": it's none of those. If you look at the talk page of one of the GAs I linked you too, you will see italicization is inappropriate. Because MoS doesn't specifically address something, it does not mean to ignore what it does say, in this case with the use of bold text in "only a few special cases". It is not a table header, caption, definition in a list, or volume number. MoS aside, I don't see the significance of bold text: it's the last number and it says "total" so there's no reason to emphasize it. "Upcoming" is used to refer to it in the future, and because it hasn't happened yet, one can't accurately say it is what it is (i.e. in this case, "second concert tour"). It's certainly not her second concert tour; she's never had a second concert tour. Future events are referred to in the future, e.g. 2012 Summer Olympics says "scheduled to take place" and uses "will be". Yes, I do use "upcoming vacation" in conversation and using "upcoming baby" is ridiculous: (s)he is already referred to as a baby before (s)he is born. Something can't be if it isn't. Another example: you live in a city in which there is no movie theatre and one is about to be built. When you walk by the construction site and someone asks you what it is, do you respond with, "That's the movie theatre."? No, because under planning stages or construction, it is not a movie theatre. Most people would refer to it with something along the lines of "The future cineplex," or "Where the new movie theatre's gonna be." Again, those are just my thoughts. Thank you for being polite. Response

Hi, Itsbydesign. I've read your e-mail and I am sorry if your efforts to edit on Wikipedia have been frustrating. There is a large learning curve for all of the various policies and guidelines here. It can take time to learn and understand them. Additionally, we all encounter editors of a wide range of temperaments -- from well-mannered to abrupt -- but in each case we first must

Nothin' But Love (tour)

Hello. I'm sorry I didn't explain my edit properly to you before reverting (I thought my edit summary was English enough, but I spelt something wrong). You can't use a source that doesn't work, quite obvious? I'd think so. Everybody needs to be able to access it unless it's a book source. I'm going to revert your edit. If this isn't clear enough, post back and tell me why. Jayy008 (talk) 15:32, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Ignore that. Basically, the sources seem fake. You can use them, as a user just reminded me. But Box Office Score is only available at Billboard.Biz and those sources do not take you there. Jayy008 (talk) 16:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to

Nothing But Love World Tour, you may be blocked from editing. You keep reverting my edits, without explanation. You're refusing to answer. The sources are clealy bad as an admin posted to me here when he was reminding me of WP:PAYWALL. However, that doesn't apply here as the source doesn't even take you anyway. Jayy008 (talk

Thank you for adding correct sources this time. Even though it's unclear why you added fake sources in the first place. Jayy008 (talk) 18:06, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

If you took the time to read the Talk Page, you would have seen where I provided a link to the Stampede website concert announcment stating that the concert would take place in the Saddledome. Hi there. I would like to kindly ask you to please stop introducing MoS violations into this article, in addition to unsourced material. Perhaps you'd like some links to what specific parts of the MoS? I would recommend these sections:

Wikipedia:Manual of Style (layout). Oh, and I'll throw in Wikipedia:Verifiability just in case. It's good that you want to contribute, but I don't want the article to violate Wikipedia policies. Thank you! Yves (talk
) 17:44, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Are you going to add those sources to your set list? Per Wikipedia:Verifiability, that is what should be done on Wikipedia. And why are you giving names to these interludes? How do you know there aren't more than five? You can't just name one of them "Untitled IV" without knowing what it is the fourth interlude. And where is the source for "Don't You Want Me"? Yves (talk) 17:40, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

O2

Whenever you see that, take the subscript off. In regular text, O2 never refers to itself as O2. Even if they did,

MoS:TM says that we can't do that. Make it O2. Thank you. I Help, When I Can.[12]
16:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Umm... read Mos:TM again. Also, brand/trademark, same difference. Especially read this part...

Avoid using special characters that are not pronounced, are included purely for decoration, or simply substitute for English words (e.g., ♥ used for "love"). In the article about a trademark, it is acceptable to use decorative characters the first time the trademark appears, but thereafter, an alternative that follows the standard rules of punctuation should be used:

You can state that it is stylized sometimes, but overall, that is not encyclopedic unless you are doing a formula. I Help, When I Can. [12] 22:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

WP:NOTBROKEN

Please make yourself familiar with this Wikipedia policy. This is why Sacramento, Anaheim, Palace of Auburn Hills, and Nassau Coliseum are used, and not Sacramento, California, Sacramento, Anaheim, Palace at Auburn Hills, and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum respectively, as you persistently insist on doing. Also I'm not sure if you know about Las Vegas, but in addition to a large

WP:V. It is also very frustrating to work with you if you do not listen, which is imperative to Wikipedia editing. I do not make reverts because I don't like your idiosyncratic editing style, but because there is valid reason to do so, and what is happening is unconstructive. Thank you so much. Yves (talk

Replaceable fair use File:Km sghtbook.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Km sghtbook.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to
    di-replaceable fair use disputed
}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 16:30, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

"External links" sections

While editing "External links" sections, remember that Wikipedia is not a directory of the full web presence of an entity. AKA, If there is an official website, only post that. If there is not but there is a facebook/myspace/twitter, use that instead. Do not list all of them. But in some instances the content of one or two can be so dynamic and on-topic that more should be included. This is very rare. I Help, When I Can. [12] 15:17, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

City Names

Hey, I was wondering why you kept changing the names of the cities back? We go by what the source says the city is. Also the larger city gives the general public a better understanding as to where the concert took place. --Blackjacks101 (talk) 11:55, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry but we go with the source though. And the major city tends to actually be more helpful for users. So please stop changing the cities I don't want to enter another edit war.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 21:30, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't matter, the source is final. And once again don't change it back before we make a consensus. But just think about it, people from different countries will have a better chance of understanding the general location of the concert if the major city is placed and if their curious about the exact location they can click the arena and find out. You say Wikipedia is about factual information but in fact my way, if you think about it, may actually become factual, while staying to the source. --Blackjacks101 (talk) 12:47, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Well no matter what your opinion is, we still have to reach a general consensus on the topic. I am just saying that it could be clearer for people who can`t put to two and two together.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 13:21, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Further, the Roundtable source you quoted also says:
"The next segment of the show included “Doesn’t Really Matter,” “Escapade,” “Love Will Never Do,” When I Think of You,” (Ms. Jackson’s FIRST #1 hit) “All For You,” “All Nite (Don’t Stop),” “That’s The Way Love Goes,” and a soothing performance of “I Get Lonely.”"
By your logic, we should say "That's the Way Love Goes" and "I Get Lonely" are part of a medley, too, right?

Aphrodite World Tour

1. the tour is called Aphrodite Live 2011 not just Aphrodite Live (this is clearly stated in the source & her official website)
2. the city in S-Africa is Johannesburg not "Sun City" (which is the venue).

4. Stop changing the names of where the concerts will take place.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that the "Selena Gomez & The Scene North America Tour" article should be renamed to the "We Own The Night Tour". It's the newly announced official title of the tour. Its posted on her fan club message board and in an official press release talking about Selena at the MMVAs. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/scene-stealer-selena-gomez-co-hosts-and-performs-at-the-2011-muchmusic-video-awards-live-sunday-june-19-at-9-pm-et-121075789.html Fan4me (talk) 23:12, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Strip Me

I quote directly from the press release:

"Each song on her new album STRIP ME evokes the innate desires, needs and fears which people experience in these most troubling of times. “Weightless”, the infectious new single is a Bedingfield pop gem that reminds us all to cut free of the material things in life, and just be who we are."

Note the following:

  1. Nowhere does it say the single has been released.
  2. Nowhere is April 19, 2011 mentioned.
  3. The date of the press release is April 20, 2011 but even press release referring to "Weightless" as a single does not make it a single.

Thus adding "Weightless" as a single on the basis of this is

WP:CRYSTAL
as there's no confirmed date.

Additionally Strip Me Away's track listing is nearly identical to Strip Me's, thus there is no need to separate the singles out. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:58, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

The Monster Ball Tour

Hi, I don't understand your reason for undoing my edit?[2] The Monster Ball Tour is clearly not Gaga's first tour, no matter what Billboard might say, her first was The Fame Ball Tour. Please, take part in the conversation and state your opinion there too, so that we don't end up in an edit war. -- Frous (talk) 22:40, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

It is recommended that editors use their own source criticism. If what Billboard says is the only thing that matters when writing to Wikipedia, then you have a lot to rewrite — and eventually, there will probably be lots of errors. Just because Billboard very often and mostly releases reliable stuff and checks its own sources, that does NOT mean that they are always right. To put it simply: because the Billboard article says Monster Ball is Gaga's first tour, you can delete the article of Fame Ball — because according to Billboard, the Fame Ball Tour didn't exist. By that logic of Billboard's all-mightiness: if an editor of Billboard says Iraq is a town located in South Africa, you can write that on the article South Africa. If an editor of Billboard says Michael Jackson sold ten million albums instead of 200+ million, then you can write that down here. If an editor of Billboard says Lady Gaga is 40 years old, then you can write that down here. If an editor of Billboard says Sun revolves around Earth, then you can write that down here. This being said, the argument "Billboard is reliable, period." is invalid in the case of these Gaga concert tours. -- Frous (talk) 02:37, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Multiple sources? Please, give me some of them. "You have the burden to find proof to refute it." EXCUSE ME? Well...did you read at all what I just said about the article of The Fame Ball Tour? That article has sources that say it's Gagas first tour, so IMO, I have no burden here. And yes, I admit I'm not 100 % sure what "tour X is the debut headlining tour by person Y" means. If you are more familiar with touring industry, explain what that means. And give me the other sources that say "Monster Ball is the first tour". Thank you. -- Frous (talk) 02:58, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
And please, let's have this conversation here. Thank you. -- Frous (talk) 02:59, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Note in the lede... "... twelfth concert tour by Australian recording artist Kylie Minogue,"... thus the article would be strongly associated to an Australian, not an American, subject. Dl2000 (talk) 02:30, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Hi, I'm afraid I also disagree with you. By long-standing Wikipedian convention, Australian articles use dmy format dates and Australian spellings (which is similar to British English spelling). AFAIK, all the Kylie articles follow this principle, and this ought not to be any different. I have made several edits to the article – mainly style matters. For a handful of cities, just giving the city name is not clear enough; Duluth is a prime example of this. Outside of Georgia, Duluth will refer to the industrial city in Minnesota, not the suburb of Atlanta. Columbia is another ambiguous name; while Perry visited the Maryland city, most people will think of the South Carolina capital. At the very least, those two and Uniondale ought to display the state as well to make the list clear. Dralwik|Have a Chat 13:42, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
