Hi JDAWiseman. I was intrigued by your recent edit to the article Kariba Dam. My understanding that quoting so much copyrighted material may not be acceptable per the WikiPedia policy, even though it is attributed. Would it not be better to just paraphrase the facts that belong in the article? My Gussie (talk) 20:27, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- I felt that it was fair usage of a modest portion of the tail end of an article. If you disagree, edit away. — JDAWiseman (talk) 20:32, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Concern over the potential failure of the Kariba dam
I have been researching this subject over the last week and read many articles in this regard. I get the impression that undue weight is being placed by the media on the fact that the dam and the people living downstream of it may be in peril. It also seems to me that the Zambian government is raising the profile of this issue to get more funds to repair it. Would you agree with this? For balance, would it not be better to also write something in the article making the opposing point that failure of the dam might not be so likely? My Gussie (talk) 20:27, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- I have read only the linked article, so defer to your expertise. But do move this entire talk section into the talk page of the dam article. — JDAWiseman (talk) 20:34, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Sale of Charles Trafford's property from Hothorpe Hall
Hello Julian. I saw your note about the sale on 19 March 1931 of Charles de Trafford's property from Hothorpe Hall. You mentioned "My picture 21928". Is this image available somewhere to view? As you say, maybe the sale doesn't merit much coverage in the Charles de Trafford article, but it would be interesting to see what was sold. Rupert Clayton (talk) 23:26, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
- Replied via email. Thanks. Rupert Clayton (talk) 00:39, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
"misplaced wording"...what misplaced wording?
I noticed your edit and 57 byte drop in text on the chernobyl page. Though I can't spurce the wording you are referring to in the edit summary. It seems a paragraph break, unseen by readers, was reduced. Was the break visible? As you have me thinking that text was lost or grossly misplaced. Boundarylayer (talk) 23:05, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Please post in talk page for that article. JDAWiseman (talk) 23:16, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
