Information icon Hello, I'm General Ization. I noticed that you recently removed content from Sally Yates without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I removed the particular content from Sally Yates because she was not a member of the Trump administration. She was acting Attorney General at the very beginning of the Trump administration, but I don't consider acting Attorneys General as being an official Attorney General. Trump did not nominate her to be his Attorney General. There is no logical reason why she should be listed as a member of the Trump cabinet. Please restore my edits. The category is not "United States Attorneys General who served a full term", but "United States Attorneys General". Yates did in fact hold the position of AG, albeit in an acting capacity, for 10 days during the Trump administration, and so was also a member of the Trump administration (the other category you removed) for that period. There are quite a few AGs named at
edit summary to explain edits where you remove content, especially when you appear to be performing a mass removal of content from a large number of articles. General Ization Talk 18:52, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply

"I don't consider acting Attorneys General as being an official Attorney General" is not a valid argument for this removal, as the inclusion of this category is not based on what you consider. The inclusion of numerous acting AGs at
consensus for the mass removal on the Talk pages for the categories you are removing, or perhaps at the Talk pages for the related articles, you should stop the mass removals. You certainly should not continue based only on your own interpretation. General Ization Talk 18:55, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply

My point is that she was a temporary holdover until Trump's appointment, Jeff Sessions, could be confirmed by the Senate. She was not confirmed by the Senate to be Attorney General. Jeep1992 (talk) 19:07, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed or not, she was doing the job (to the best of her ability) for a time. Unless you can find support for the notion that only confirmed AGs are really AGs, you should leave the category in place. In addition, you were removing other categories from this and other articles where I don't think this fact pattern applies. General Ization Talk 19:21, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you should propose the addition of new categories for acting federal directors and cabinet officers, if you think that distinction is necessary in our categorization system. General Ization Talk 19:26, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
