January 2024

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Ukrainian State, you may be blocked from editing. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 16:01, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is not vandalism, this actualization information on the current transliteration of Ukrainian toponyms into English. Kyiv has not changed its name since then, it has remained Kyiv. If you blocked me, it will only be because of your pro-Russian views Konotopel (talk) 23:11, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Ukrainian State. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 17:09, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

he did not vadnalize anything, but you did not even listen to his arguments, so if you continue your destructive behaviour - you will be reported to administrators. MiskoGe (talk) 14:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this vandalism? Please explain to me why this particular article should retain the outdated transliteration, when other articles have long used the new one and you have no questions about it Konotopel (talk) 17:16, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Articles about historical entities shall retain the historical spelling! Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 19:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nonsense. However, in Ukrainian state used Ukrainian language at the official level, so this argument about tophonyms does not work. Konotopel (talk) 19:32, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Vif12vf:, the same warning applies to you — you have already made more than 3 reverts, and you don't seem to be looking for consensus. --MonX94 (talk) 05:12, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as

contentious
. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the

Arbitration Committee Clerks Noticeboard. Mellk (talk) 01:54, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply
