Remitly Notability Tag Help
Hey there! The Remitly article you helped create now has a tag that reads "the topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines." I've directed the editor who put that tag on the page to your initial article creation note, but as a Remitly employee, my comments don't hold much weight with non-COI editors. Would you mind reiterating your stance on Remitly's notability and the soundness of the article's sourcing? I know Wikipedia is democratic and one editor's opinion isn't definitive but I'm not positive if the editor who tagged the page is arguing against Remitly's notability, or if they're just not sure it's been confirmed. Any help or clarity you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks! JM at Remitly (talk) 19:22, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks, I have fixed the draft and added more references. This is actually a very notable company in the East African context. Most people in Kenya and Uganda have heard of BitPesa, which is like the East African equivalent of Venmo in the US, so I'm absolutely sure that this is notable enough. I've done research in East Africa before and have a pretty good idea of what's supposed to be notable or not notable there. Also it shouldn't have any promotional wording now, since it lists just basic facts. I've made sure to weed out promotional sources. I focus on what these kinds of companies actually do and really dislike it when they try to promote themselves. Be sure to check out my userpage too, and you can see that I an a non-connected scholar doing research in the Global South on these kinds of companies, which are typically very notable outside the Global North and definitely meet Wikipedia notability criteria.
