Regency of Algiers

Hello, please don't remove sourced content, what you did is pure vandalism, i invite you to inform yourself on the subject. Thanks. Nourerrahmane (talk) 10:58, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, but I saw the same coat of arms on a website, mentioning an approach with French Algeria Maxime legorgne (talk) 12:03, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's alright, you can check the wikimedia page for that Coat of Arms, in fact the french (military administration) adopted it till the 3rd french republic which replaced it with a new one, however there 3 sources that expelicity mention it's form and timeline: the arabic one mentionned it as inscripted in Bab Dzira (one of the doors of Algiers) during the rule of the Beylerbey Hasan pasha (around 1544), the french source describes it pretty well and the English source says it's contemporary to the Deylik period:
  • بدرالدين بالقاضي (2003). تاريخ وعمران قصبة الجزائر: من خلال مخطوط ألبير ديفواكس(History and architecture of the Kasbah of Algiers: Through the manuscript of Albert Devoix). الجزائر: ENAG Algérie. p. 75. .
  • Henri Klein (1937). Feuillets d'El-Djezaïr. Alger: L. CHAIX. p. 73.
  • Flag Bulletin. Flag Research Center. 1986. pp. 165–166. Retrieved 11 July 2023.
One more thing, the Regency of Algiers was de facto independent since 1659 when the Janissary and corsairs revolution happenned, it was the year where the Pashas sent by Istanbul (Viceroys) lost their partial executive power to the Divan of the janissaries (council) as this source says:https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k65414021/f64.item
The army became sovereign and the state became a Military republic (another word for that is "Stratocracy") and chose the ruler locally, this source mention a number of Algerian ambassadors in Louis 14's Kingdom of France: https://archive.org/details/histoiregnra00garr/page/518/mode/2up?view=theater , https://archive.org/details/histoiregnra00garr/page/530/mode/2up?view=theater , https://archive.org/details/histoiregnra00garr/page/544/mode/2up?view=theater , https://archive.org/details/traitdepaixentre00alge/page/2/mode/2up
So All in All, you can devide the Algerian Regency history into two periods : Viceroyalty Period - Berylery and Pasha (1518-1659) and a sovreign military republic - Agha and Dey (1659-1830).
Hope this helps.
