There are just a few grammatical/writing changes I would make. In the article you said, "A lot of bluegrass musicians meet up and perform at festivals located throughout the Appalachian region," I would change "a lot" to "many." Additionally, whenever you were talking about the contribution African-Americans had on Appalachian music, I would strictly use the term "African-American," since it is an academic and educational paper.
