Dance capitalization

I noticed that you listed yourself as a linguist. There is currently a dispute at the Lindy Hop article the Dance WikiProject about the capitalization of dances that could use the expertise of a linguist. If you think you might be able to help, we would certainly appreciate your comments. Thanks! --Cswrye 05:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

help needed

Hi. I'm looking for a linguist to add some rational input on Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2006_November_1#Category:Finland-Swedish. More specifically, i'm hoping you can help prevent someone who's either a hyphen fetishist or perhaps just loves debating from making WP disregard established usage among English-speaking linguists. Thanks! --Espoo 14:37, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

clarification

  • My sources for the Detroit Lakes page are there, but I don't know if I cited them in the proper Wikipedia format, as I am new to the system. I deleted your title because I cited references for each section after seeing your notice. There was no vandalism intended, I am simply a Wikipedia greenhorn trying my best to improve what once was a very dull page for a great town. I would appreciate your help in citing sources properly if I did not do so. Thank you!

Kingkoin 09:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

again, clarification

  • I noticed your comments about me on the Detroit Lakes discussion page. For your information, I have no connection whatsoever to the laundromat. Is it even a chain? I simply used it as a username because it's a cool name and I saw an old business card on the bulletin board next to the PC I was using. Like I have stated many times, I have no interest in any specific business in D.L. I don't think its even open anymore.

Remove Advert?

I agree with your recommendation to remove the Advert tag on the Detroit Lakes page. Should we go ahead and do so? I noticed that no one else has replied to your recommendation on the Detroit Lakes Talk Page yet. Thanks. UMINN44 2:52 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Amercian Regions Math League logo.jpg)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media
).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:46, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Talk:Rubic's_Rostrum. 24.0.176.45 15:23, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you have made another edit to the article. I think you do not quite understand the notability guidelines, please see this: Wikipedia Notability-article content. Basically, the names of famous Rubics alumni are well justified in that article's context. Nonetheless, I did not like that inclusion myself so I am going to let this slide. :) 24.0.176.45 15:56, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Music Charts

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 04:53, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No you misunderstood me. That's what I'm telling you, no page has any reference for the Japanese Charts which I just recently found out are called Oricon. And that's what I'm requesting your assistance in, referencing the official site for songs. Anyway go take a look at Oricon and the state it's in and compare it to Billboard because I was hoping some japanese people would be interested in helping to bring it to the standard of Americas Billboard Chart, so that we can start increasing people's knowledge worldwide of the Japanese music charts and mainstream music which is popular there. Would you help to review a Japanese translation made by Wikipedians?

There's been a recent discussion at the talk page of the article for the Internet meme All your base are belong to us. The topic was made famous for the gruesome Engrish translations in the original video game, and the article provided a somewhat more accurate translation along the original text.

The discussion could benefit from a review of the accuracy of these translations as it appeared in this recent version, by someone with fluency in Japanese and experience dealing with editor-made translations at Wikipedia. Thanks for your time. Diego (talk) 11:14, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request for translation: List of sources for an article

Mitchoyoshitaka, on the Reference desk someone recommended using the list of translators in response to a request. Are you willing to translate portions of or all of the list of references on this page? es:Wikipedia discusión:Consultas de borrado/Liceo Mexicano Japonés? It is for an AFD on the Spanish Wikipedia. This is so Spanish-speaking editors can understand what Japanese references exist about the subject. You are welcome to translate the references into English.

Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage)

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for

reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole
page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:51, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
