I have never heard of the "Hylan Line" when referring to

Where did you find the maps from the 1950s? And were they official TA maps? I'm not doubting you, I just find it surprising that the lines were named that way (especially the Hylan name). I will post a note at Talk:Staten Island Railway, so other users can comment about it. As for the Columbus Circle station, in the online transit forums, I read that the center platform would become the crossunder for the IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line (1 train) level and IND access to that platform will be unusable.
