Hello, Thank you very much for your prompt review and thoughtful feedback. I have additional references I can include, for example book reviews and substantial major network TV interviews and articles.
I am a novice Wikipedia editor and may have erred when I omitted those references and tagged the article as being about a documentary filmmaker. I will review the guidelines again and follow up soon. Thank you again for your speedy reply, which is much appreciated. NomadicLibrary (talk) 00:49, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cabrils,
Would you please read the draft article about Terence Ward? I've tried to improve it per your suggestions by including new External Links for example a link to an interview with Christiane Amanpour and deleted several sentences that didn't include acceptable citations. There's an Op Ed piece authored by Terence Ward in the LA times as well but the link to the article seems to require that one be subscriber in order to open it.
Prior to submitting the article for review previously I think I categorized Terence as a writer and filmmaker. I'd like to go back to that categorization menu and delete the filmmaker category although I do include in the articles the documentaries he's produced and the awards those documentaries received. Perhaps if I use only the writer category that will be a better choice than selecting two categories. Problem is, I don't know how how to go back and find what I want to delete (the filmmaker category). Thank you very much for your feedback. Hello Cabrils,
Thank you very much for the introduction to the Articles for creation help desk and Teahouse. I appreciate your guidance. NomadicLibrary (talk) 02:22, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'm replying here to the comment you posted on my Talk page, because given you are new to Wikipedia I'm thinking it's more likely you'll see my response here.
For clarity, you wrote: Thank you for your suggestions regarding the draft article about Terence Ward which needs to re-submitted. I'm having difficulty with the technical aspects of formatting the article. I accidentally deleted the photo of Terence Ward and have not been able to locate it. I have the photo in an external file but I'm unable to successfully upload it because it already exists. Do you know where I can find the deleted photo and put it back where it was? Also, do you know of any tutoring services that offer instructions in technical aspects of submitting an article? Thank you very much for taking the time to answer this question.
Firstly, my pleasure, we were all beginners once! OK so the photo: it is currently on the draft page (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Terence_Ward). Note that deleting an image from a page (including draft pages) does not delete the image from Wikimedia Commons where it actually lives (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Terence_Ward_in_Anghiari,_Italy.jpg).
I do not know of any tutoring services, however there are many videos on YouTube, and there is also
WP:AFC
. I think you are doing well and in my experience the best thing is to have a go and the community is generally very helpful.
Good luck with it and don't hesitate to ask any more questions, including making use of the Articles For Creation Help Desk (see the link near the bottom of the yellow boxed template posted above on your Talk page). Cabrils (talk) 23:24, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cabrils,
Thank you for your encouraging note! I will check out the videos on YouTube and also continue to utilize Teahouse and the AFC help desk.
Thanks too for explaining that deleting an image from a page, even a draft page, doesn't delete the image from Wikimedia Commons which is where it lives (I like the word "lives" rather than "archived" or "housed" because it's the accurate description signals the file's present tense existence). I found the file but still was stumped uploading it. Another helpful editor assisted me with that. It is really so nice to discover such a supportive community here at Wikipedia. I am almost finished with the new draft of Terence Ward's article. Would you like to take a look at it before I submit it or do you recommend I post it on Teahouse before submitting it? Best wishes and warm thanks NomadicLibrary (talk) 00:46, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
