In the section concerning Red Book audio, what is meant by "standard Windows, Macintosh, or Linux interfaces"? Are these the graphical file browsers supplied with the operating systems, or some other tool? Also, why are disk imaging programs unable to read the Audio CD data? Can you provide an example of a disc which would fit into this circumstance, so I may look into it and get a better understanding of the process? At the time of it's release in early 1998, the Voodoo2 was simply unequaled in terms of 3D-graphics power. The fact that many games of the era only supported 3Dfx cards for hardware-acceleration gave the Voodoo2 a huge, although short-lived, head-start over it's rivals Nvidia and ATI, both of which only had graphics cards that supported Direct3D and OpenGL

Editions and Add-On's

• Carmageddon original release: Shipped with software-rendering only, supported both DOS and Windows, and featured MIDI as well as CD-audio Red book(audio CD standard music.

• Carmageddon Splat Pack: An expansion pack containing new cars and tracks as well as hardware-accelerated 3Dfx support for both the Voodoo 1 and Voodoo Rush chipsets. The 3Dfx Voodoo2 is not officially supported, but third-party patches are available.

• Carmageddon Hi-Octane: A re-release of Carmageddon, sans CD-audio music (only MIDI).

• Carmageddon Max-Pack: Official compilation pack featuring both Carmageddon and the Splat Pack add-on bundled together. It also contains a mousepad, strategy guide and a car-key chain. The Max-Pack edition of Carmageddon includes the officially released 3Dfx patches on the CD, thus supporting hardware-acceleration right out of the box, unlike the original release. Splat Pack is still required for it's new tracks and cars.

I've trimmed the section, removing excess detail (no need to go into detail on the nature of cd audio, for example), and moved it. Also, seeing as the small version is the freeware version, wouldn't that make the CD version the commercial version, and hence make the download via torrent piracy? I'm not entirely certain on policies regarding such links. I've seen links to underdogs here and there for some old games, but I know for a fact that external links links that violate copyright are very much frowned upon.--Drat (Talk) 10:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
