Hi there. I've looked and I've determined that the article was not eligible for speedy, due to coverage in reliable sources (the USA Today, for instance), and because I believe that being described as the "father of Jewish environmentalism" is a good enough claim to notability. No mate, that was the correct place to put it (you should use the "new section" tab instead of "edit this page" on discussion pages like that though when starting a new topic of discussion). Article rescue is all part of the service, if you need any help with markup or whatnot when expanding the article please feel free to drop me a line. As far as images go, I'd suggest having a read of
Help:Images and other uploaded files. Note that those images you linked to on my talk page are probably not suitable for inclusion, as they are copyrighted.
