Chandrasekar, there has been a long standing edit war in this article between editors wanting to be inclusive and neutral (like you) and with editors with a strong anti-Tamil bias and hatred hell bent on disrupting and blocking any information even remotely showing contributions of Tamils in Carnatic music or any number of other articles. No number of reliable citations would satisfy these fanatics. This is unfortunately the reality of Wikipedia today. Mr. Dineshkannambadi, the portion I tried to remove was totally unfounded and based on some popular media effort. See [[1]]. In any case it is grossly wrong to claim the Brahmagiri edict is in Kannada language where it is in one of the Prakrits. perichandra1 18:51, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Mr Perichandra, please keep your archaelogical skills out of wikipedia. The sentence pertaining to Isila comes with citations from historians. Wikipedia does not give you the authority to decide what is isila and what is not isila. You are perhaps new to wikipedia and dont know how it works. I suggest you first speak to some senior friends of yours before judging the citations from historians. Nobody is claiming Brahmagiri edict is in Kannada language. It is in Prakrit containing the complex word called isila whcih accroding to historians is a Kannada word. If you have a problem with the deciphering of that word, take it up with the historians, not on wikipedia. Once you have proven to the historians that isila is not a Kannada word, make sure it is published by an historian. Then come back to wiki , and add a citation challenging the current one.
