HoverRace

HoverRace is relevant to a number of people, and occasionally hits are seen on hoverrace.com from Wikipedia. I/We would greatly appreciate it if it was not deleted. I mean, it's not like it's hurting anyone, and it is good information that wasn't particularly easy to collect. Yes, I don't have an account, but you can email me at [email protected] to discuss this further if you want. Otherwise I'll be keeping my eyes on the page.

Program Feature:
Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!

I'm confused by your vote on Gus Goes to Cybertown. You state that "A game that won Best Shooter of E3? Notable for sure." while apparently maintaining that a CES Innovations award is, by way of comparison, not notable. According to their articles, the Consumer Electronics Show had 150,000 attendees this year, and E3 at its peak had 60,000. While both shows are certainly important in their own right, I doubt that anyone would seriously argue that E3 was more important than the CES. Please help me to understand your logic here, as I'm having difficulty trying to grasp where you're coming from. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 12:41, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Tim Jackins

Hi, I saw you've deleted

Re-evaluation Counseling which is fairly well known in the therapy field and is the son of Harvey Jackins
who is considered influential in psychotherapeutic areas. Can you explain why you deleted it please? If there are problems with it, maybe they can be fixed?

I wonder if you could help me with something else as well please, there was a related page called United to End Racism which has also been deleted but I can't find any notes about it in the deletion logs, can you help? Thanks a lot! MarkThomas 08:59, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oohh, this is freaking me, the latter has just re-appeared! I may have just been making typos when I searched, so apologies for that one. But would still like to know about the Tim Jackins deletion. Thanks a lot. MarkThomas 09:00, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In one, ther was it's history and the other the "formal way" to draw it (in the links). So the start of specific sections is motivated.Simply some one will transrite it from the links in the stubs.A stub is an invitation to some one to fill it,so that the subject is covered after editing,if thers no stub, less peopol will get motivated to begin editing.same principle aplies at stub-articles and stub-sections.--Pixel ;-) 22:02, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must strongly object to your deletion of the uncategorised films category. First, you did so without discussion, and as a result anyone using the page was unable to explain its function to you. Please do not delete things without discussing - there may be a good reason for their existence which is unknown to you. Second, the reason in this case is that films are added to the category and then rapidly sorted by members of wikiproject films. At least forty articles are processed through that category per week by me alone. It has a distinct purpose, and as a result, I am re-creating it immediately. Please do not delete it again. Deletion of "Oracle Gatherings"

Hello, I'm just wondering what motivated you to delete the "Oracle Gatherings" article on 19 October 2006. The deletion log simply (and harshly) describes it as a "non-notable festival."

Your user page says that you are from Vancouver, Canada. Perhaps you have attended an Oracle Gathering in the past? You may be aware that the Oracle Gatherings have helped shape North West Coast dance culture. Hundreds of artists have become involved in the production of the events over the years, and the community is still growing. The North West is very tight-knit. The type of dedicated community involvement that exists here is something that I have not witnessed anywhere else I have lived. At a time when we are all experiencing a consciousness shift in this world, I'd hardly call that "non-notable."

I'd really appreciate a more detailed explanation. Was it too short? Were there typos? Was it not signed properly? I know the person who created the original entry, and I know that there was an intention to add more to it. You said on your user page that you would retrieve any data from a deleted page, so at the very least, that would be a nice gesture. But I'd really like to see it put back. The reason the article was started in the first place was to get the info out there. It was not meant to be self-promotional in any way. The Gatherings barely generate any money. They are created so the organizers and all the attendees may have fun, and so like-minded folks can share a wonderful experience for one night.

I'm not sure how wiki correspondence works, so please email me. jamey -at- oraclegatherings dot com Jls-sea 19:49, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the article Troop 70

How come you had deleted the page on Troop 70? It isn't just any 'Random Boy Scout troop.' It is the original Boy Scout troop in Connecticut and nearly all the other troops in the state have branched off of it. I'm not trying to yell at you, I'm just wondering. Was the article not of an encyclopediac quality (if that's even a word)? Did it seem like it was written a 10 year old who wants an article about his troop Wikipedia? Was it just lame? Just wondering. Crad0010 22:47, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you deleted the above article as a speedy, A7, which means the article makes no claim of importance or significance. I disagree, the article stated that the person in question was an actress and appears in a popular television show. I've restored it, which fair play, is bad form, but only because it has been recreated and I wanted to merge the page histories. A7 isn't for articles where an assertion is made, for those

proposed deletion is recommended. Anyway, sorry to restore without checking with you first, not sure how you want to go from there? Steve block Talk 23:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was very much on the verge of quitting Wikipedia when I had supposedly picked an "inappropriate" name and was "inappropriate" when I had an alternate account to only edit my main account. (I even had a wikibreak template up to quit Wikipedia for a period of time!) When 3 different admins rejected my requests, I felt so picked on for nothing. Thank you for giving me a chance to prove myself when the others didn't. I made a new account, as suggested by one of the admins who rejected my request for unblock, but I'm just glad that the whole thing did work out in the end and the right thing was done! Thanks so much!

Hi,

On Nov. 9th you deleted the entry for Ekova that I made. I'm not pissed or anything, in the process of creating the entry I found out that the band appeared to be defunct and today I was going to nominate it for deletion anyway. I'm mostly curious how I missed the deletion process - I may have not checked my watchlist for a couple days and it passed me by, but I can't find anything logging it's removal. Could you let me know where I should look? Thanks. WLU 18:04, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Super Mario War

Why in the world did you delete Super Mario War, just after it was created with original content, there are plenty of lame and pathetic (1 line) articles on much less popular open source games that go without question on here.

I do not see how it fits any criteria for speedy deletion, and I request that it be undeleted to how it was, it hasn't even been given a chance to pan out. Athiril 07:28, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Athiril[reply]

A) It wasn't a repost of the same content, and B) It's a lot more notable than other games on wikipedia -and- they only have a vague couple of lines about them.

So when are you going to get around to deleting those other games off wikipedia then? You know, the ones in much less of a condition to be on here than SMW, the ones you should have gotten around to first if you deem this game so unworthy of being on here.

For one, the hypocrisy of the wiki open source games list - "Please post only games that make their source code and media content, like graphics and sound, fully available and free to modify and redistribute. Featured games must have an article on Wikipedia in further stages than a stub. Anything else will be REMOVED."

Boson is on that list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boson_%28computer_game%29

From Boson article - "This strategy game-related article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it."

For one, there are a lot of pretty poor games listed on wikipedia open-source and non, that no one plays and that dont get many hits on the original web page for them, which are in the first place a lot less notable than Super Mario War which is ludicrous in the first place for an article still existing on them since Super Mario War was deleted yet again, whats even worse is that article on Boson barely has 3 sentences, and even more so its listed as a stub AND listed on the open source games list, which states stubs cannot be on it.

It's all a bunch of crap.

  • Well, if you don't like it, tag them for deletion. There are simple, easy ways to do that.

Delete Delete

Why on earth are you attempting to delete so many articles? I really don't understand why somebody who seems so involved would want to undo all the work of so many editors, and make Wikipedia that much worse as a resource? Excessive deleting is a form of censorship - decision by the minority what's important or not. If editors have put the effort of contributing an article, it's important. If you don't think so, don't read it. Thousands of others will. Greenman 19:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Advanced Strategic Command

I created the article; you might as well delete it. It's pointless for me to get into a big debate over notability, as the only reason I created it was to make at least one red link blue in the page on ASC; the fact that I actually played the game at one point also pushed me to create it. If it's deleted, I'll remove the link in ASC as well.--Planetary 02:39, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the support on RfA!

With the RfA complete and over, and a day to recover on top, I finally feel able to click a few buttons and write a few comments. Of those, there's about a dozen editors I hadn't come across before, whom I particularly want to write a comment to.

Ciz was ages ago, but you were pretty good back then, nice to see you round again :) Hope the years have treated you well, too :)

As a new user of admin access, I might well benefit from guidance for a while to come. I trust my existing approach overall, but its an area one doesn't really want to make even a single mistake, and where the judge is the eyes of ones peers. So advice would be a Good Thing.

To kickstart that off, I've set up a subpage to post questions on "what would other users do here?" for those admin situations where I'm not sure. I'll probably have a lot of those early on. If you feel like watchlisting User:FT2/Advice sought, I'd really appreciate it :) a consultative page is my first step in ensuring this new access will be taken responsibly when circumstances arise.

Separate from all that, I look forward to seeing you round. What subject areas are you working on these days? How goes?

Keep in touch, happy editing in 2007, and once again - many thanks! :) FT2 (Talk | email) 02:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sorry to bother you about something silly like this, but I was surfing the internet the other day and inadvertently came across a trailer for a independent fan movie based on the Legend Of Zelda video game series. Wikipedia used to have a page for the movie, but was deleted (by you originally, if I understand how this site works well enough) for what I'm guessing was copyright infringement. All I wanted to know was if the article contained any information explaining why the movie was never released in any capacity beyond a trailer. Did Nintendo step in, as is speculated on various forums? If you don't mind looking this up for me, I'd very much appreciate it. My curiosity is killing me. Thanks!
