Topic ban violation

Hi Publius Obsequium, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that this was on oversight, but your edit to The 10,000 Year Explosion [1] appears to be a violation of your topic ban, which bars you from editing in the area of the intersection of race/ethnicity and human abilities and behaviour.. The book The 10,000 Year Explosion explicitly discusses purported genetic causes for higher average IQs among Ashkenazi Jews, and indeed there is a whole section about this in our article. While your edit did not touch on this point explicitly, it did significantly downplay the book's negative reception, which was in no small part related to its treatment of purported links between race/ethnicity and behavior. For that reason, I think this is a pretty clear violation. I hope this makes sense. Pinging Bishonen who instituted the t-ban, just so they're kept in the loop, and in case they disagree with my take on the edit. I am not doing this to advocate for additional sanctions at this time. Publius Obsequium, that is exactly the kind of edit you should ask about in advance, to avoid being blocked for a t-ban violation. (If you had asked me, I would have told you the edit would infringe on your t-ban.) I won't sanction you for it; in general I don't sanction for the first t-ban vio, as it's so common that people initially don't quite understand how a t-ban works. But you should consider that edit your first violation; if you make another, there will be a sanction. Bishonen | tålk 22:41, 26 June 2024 (UTC).[reply]
