Deletion

I note that your recent article on "gornography" was deleted, because it's a neologism.

Another reason is that the word "carnography" (as in "carnage") already exists; you might want to create an article on that instead. DS 21:47, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies

As you can see from the messages above some of the biographies you have added were deleted as Copyright Violations. This is because the information is readily found on other internet sites with a copyright notice. However since only a portion of your contributions are found on the internet, I am wondering if you are simply using the same source (which may or may not be copyrighted) as these websites rather than copying them directly. If you would please share the source you are using for these articles, it would make things much more clear. When people can know exactly where you are getting these articles from, the copyright examination will be much more accurate.--Birgitte§β ʈ Talk 16:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We do still need a source for all those bios you've been adding. In addition to complying with copyright laws, all articles on wikipedia must cite their sources. Please see
WP:CITE for how to cite sources and why it's important to do so. Do not add any more copyrighted or uncited or text, and please take the time to cite sources for the many articles you've already added. Thanks. -- Vary | Talk 16:16, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply

I've blocked to prevent any more plagiarism until we get some kind of a dialogue going. --Cyde Weys 22:12, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the tardy reply but it took me ages how to figure how to do so. The information I have provided in my biographies is largely gleaned from information available in imdb.com and Yahoo! Movies. It was never my intention to plagiarise, merely to fill some perceived gaps in Wikipedia. I always try to rewrite the details I pick up - clearly I haven't been diligent enough in that regard. Duly chastened, I shall not be attempting to lift chunks of text wholesale again, and - if allowed back - will make a special point of verifying my sources and rendering them in my own terms. If that is declined, I do have one request. As an advertising writer, part of my job is to make sure things are spelled correctly at all times. As this is a public website, lots of incorrect spelling sneaks through on a regular basis. With your permission, I'd still like to be able to amend these where possible. The sharing of information is all very well, but it's even better when it's spelled correctly. - RJNeb2 10:59 GMT, 02 November 2006

I'm in favour of letting you have a second chance as this message was fairly lucid and adult. I am not an admin however. Please see WP:FOOT regarding how to cite sources. it looks very tidy and is easy to learn. --I'll bring the food 21:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can anyone give me an indication on how long this block or adjudication will last for? Can someone contact Cyde Weys as I'm unable to do so because of the block. Thanks. - RJNeb2 11:23 GMT, 04 November 2006

Blocks

I've left a message for Cyde. DS 14:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note

Okay. Cyde gave me the go-ahead, so I've unblocked you.

However, we'll be keeping an eye on you. Please be very careful to rewrite everything in your own words, and to cite your sources. DS 18:20, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Most kind. Thanks a lot. RJNeb2 19:59 GMT, 5 November 2006.

Fixing old copyright problems

Hi. I wonder if you would take the time to rewrite some of the articles you've already submitted, to correct any copyright violations. I've been working through your contribution history starting with the earliest, and have covered everything up to early May so far, but it would be very helpful (and a sign of your good-faith intention to be more careful of copyright in the future) for you to re-write your past submissions in your own words. If you're interested, a working list of the article's I've already covered is here. Thanks. -- Vary | Talk 18:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it's a big job but happy to give it a go. One thing I can't figure out is how to credit sources. I follow what I've read about how to do it but all that ever comes up is just that [1] symbol and no credited source. Can someone elucidate things for me please? RJNeb2 2 December 2006.
Sure. If you go to
Harvard referencing will probably be your best bet for most of these articles. Hope that helps! -- Vary | Talk 15:42, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply
