Snapring

I'm the author, and I don't think it should stay. I've left talk on both
Snapring and Circlip, because they appear to be the same thing. Circlip certainly appears to be a good short description of snaprings, so it's probably best to leave it, but add something to reflect that USA-ians refer to this type of object by a different name than Commonwealth-ians. When that happens, then a simple redirect so that "Snapring" goes to the "Circlip" page would be best. There's no reason to have both pages. It's just that my editing skills aren't (yet) up to the task I want done. -SandyJax 02:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

I set a redirect
Snap ringCirclip, so it's reasonable to have this alternate spacing available. DMacks 02:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

Thanks, that was fast! I just checked; clicking Snapring on the "Jesus Clip" (another place that needs help) sent me straight to the Circlip page, as I originally wanted. Now, how do we establish geographic coverage for the two terms? _I_ know that it's a US/commonwealth divide, but I certainly can't prove it, and I've been wrong before. Actually, all I really know is that "The US uses 'Snapring' and all the web articles referring to 'Circlip' seem to be written by British or Australians." And, after the divide is figure out, how do we say it? -SandyJax 02:36, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We can note that the first record of the word circlip is in a 1903 publication by the
karabiner, according to the OED, so we might want to think about whether that redirect is appropriate, and consider a disambiguation page instead. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:29, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply

Watchlist question

I posted a late reply to your Watchlist question on the Help desk. I'm notifying you on your talk page in case you are no longer monitoring your question's entry on the Help desk. This is just a courtesy notification; if the discussion on this topic needs to continue, we should continue it on the Help desk. --Teratornis (talk) 06:58, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, you can filter your watchlist by namespace, so if you wanted to look at all recent changes on user pages, or portal talk pages, you can do so. The filter is just above the top entry on the watchlist. I think Teratornis has cracked the problem of why I was confused and why you were finding a particular problem!

Thanks for the updates. I shifted to a different position at my job, and now am too busy to goof off at WP so much... In fact, I'm only logged on here now because I need help, and WP is the place to go.
