WPRL Article Improvement Drive

Hey I've noticed you're a regular on rugby league articles, particulary NRL ones. I need your advice on something I'm thinking of starting up on the project. Many WikiProjects have Article Improvement Drives which have different levels of success. I'm thinking of starting one up for this one too, but instead of voting on an article I would rather strive to improve one NRL club every fortnight and bring it up very close to featured status. Now it seems as though there'd be a lot of work involved, but there are also a lot of club fans out there who'd probably be willing to participate. Basically there are 30 weeks in the NRL season and there are 15 club pages that are not yet featured. I propose that we all have a schedule to work on one new article every second round, in alphabetical order. By the end of the season hopefully we will have 15 near-complete, if not complete articles. My only concern at this stage is the dedication of editors to help out other team pages that they are not interested in. Basically in order to get the support of editors like these, we need a few leaders in the project. If you are willing to dedicate a bit of your time every week into this and if you have any further suggestions, could you let me know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league/Article improvement drive? Thanks, --15:07, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

3 Rabbitohs

Hey Satts Greg Hawick, Chick Cowie and George Treweek figure in the 04 Dream Team but have no linked articles. I'm thinking this is a gap on the main club article. Do you have any inf on these players & I'll start a stub on each.Sticks66 06:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Satts, thanks for the info but then you went & beat me to it. Well done. I've linked all Dream Team players to that Article on the Souths Website. It seems that Bob Grant also doesn't have an article. Do you have anything on him ? Sticks66 12:54, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the link and put some info up for Bob Grant.

The surname was spelled incorrectly - subsequently set up a new page with the correctname. Not sure how to delete the blanked page.

Sattlersjaw 21:05, 21 April 2007 (UTC) Ah OK. You could have used the Move tab (Move means Rename). I deleted the old article. Herostratus 22:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Style guide

Hi there, I have noticed you are creating articles for past NSW RL players. One point I would like to raise, is you are making your Sentence Headings In Leading Case Format. This is not in line with the

WP:MSH
- which says to just use "sentence case" the same as for article names.

So instead of Football Career - if we are discussing a footballer (without discussing non football life) it should just be Football career or even better Career (he's a footballer, football can be assumed as being his main career).Garrie 04:43, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

South Sydney Rabbitohs - FAC Material

Nice work fixing up the article and adding that long list of references. From what I can see, I believe the article is soon ready to be nominated to

WP:FAC when you're ready. As the main contributor to the article, I believe it should be up to you to decide when to nominate it. I think we should immediately bypass Peer Review and Good Article as they have too much of a backlog to be useful these days. I can imagine there will be some opposition to how the page is presented at the moment (I'll change some things in the coming days to hopefully prevent some of that). I'll see if I can get the services of the copyeditor who helped with Sydney Roosters in its nomination. Post any comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league/Article improvement drive so they can be read by everyone on the Project. Cheers, mdmanser 15:30, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply

Hey Satts really sorry (and disappointed) to see that the article has been opposed for FA. I didn't realise the proposal would only stay up to 10days before the opposers would rule. Well done on so much work that you have put into it for a while but so intensively and singlehandedly in recent the finessing stage. Where do we go from here ? Maybe
mdmanser can give us some guidance Sticks66 14:38, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Satts, an A class article it has ended up indeed thanks to all your hard work.

I'll do what I can and link a few though, I'm sure that knowing this now you'll probably beat me to it. Sticks66 14:53, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Bobmccarthy.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The

Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply

Flags in European current templates

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 19:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
