Welcome to Wikipedia: check out the Teahouse!
August 2012
Hello, ScottPraescient. We
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

What can I do to improve the notability for the Praescient Analytics article I created? Most of the information about this company comes from sites affiliated with them. They have hosted the first instance of a speaker series, with many notable military and defense industry individuals from DC in attendance.
Thanks to heather walls for spotting this issue. Please do let me know what I can do to remedy this.
I am looking forward to further contributions to the Wiki community! ScottPraescient (talk) 13:36, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Scott! (That's my darling 6 month old son's name!) I agree with Rick about the reason your article was declined, but let's beef it up a bit to avoid that again, ok? My name is
I remember reading somewhere where you said you didn't think you could use your company's website. Well, with some care, you can. You definitely want to list it under a heading "External Links", and it would also go in an infobox. Most of the info in the infobox can be referenced to the company website. The company site is fine for verifying non controversial facts like address, year started, officers, type of business, etc. It is just when you get into making claims about your company that you need an external source. You also have to show that external sources have written about your company, which you have done. More, however would be good.
I am going to ask you to add your company website as an external link to the article. Once it is there, I will get an infobox together for you. Or you can try it yourself, although templates can be a bit daunting. You will find it here:
