Distribution: Found in Bellary. The nymphs and adults hide during the day singly in tunnels driven into the ground in sandy places, probably emerging at night to forage for prey. Feed on caterpillars, frogs etc. Found in sand along river bank at Hagari. T B Fletcher, 1914, Some South Indian Insects ---

This page is just not about the Asiatic Cheetah description, it is more importantly about what is being done to save it and what need to be done to save it. I spent non stop 3 days making it and 2 years researching it, please just dont go in and delete the whole thing. You can make your own version and link it.

This is not a general encyclopaedic content style article, I request you to please make that article from myne and post it as a seperate article and link it up. Someone is rewriting it too, see my talk page.

My article is a desperate plea, all the mentioned websites have to be be kept intact for other researchers and people who may want to write about it or make films, or talk to officials and researchers which can be reached on these websights. Also in India people dont even know if India ever had the Cheetah, they now think Cheetah is the same thing as a leopard for which they use this name commonly, and 99.99% of the more smart ones including naturalists and biologists think that Indian Cheetah is extinct for ever, but as you see now it survives...............

If you want you could just edit the english, keep all the info intact.

And ofcourse you could definately make a seperate shorter page for kids on your own.

Nice to see your work on the Asiatic Cheetah page. I can understand your passion, but note that you may have to change your style of writing to match the general encyclopaedic content style. So for instance it not generally accepted practise to publicise websites, projects or authors on the article pages. The Asiatic Cheetah article I wrote has been re-written as you know to suite a general audience, you are most welcome to improve on it when you get some time, you can also pull up the version I wrote for reference from the history page.

I think you should feel free to edit the article. Remember only that there needs to be some clear form and substance in the content. It needs just a basic writing principles which are easy to learn. The objections of all have not been on the subject, but in the form. It cannot be a mass of material with some parts in capitals, long headers etcetera. I edited the diet, but since you are the expert on the subject perhaps you could cite the relevant research papers and make the article more technically sound. Hi Shyamal Following is the correct info on Diet of Asiatic Cheetah and I have mentioned the quoted references:

(1 see below) Diet: In Iran Asiatic Cheetah's diet consists mainly of Jebeer gazelle, Goitered Gazelle, wild sheep, wild goat, and cape hare.

(2 see below) The Asiatic cheetah’s range is restricted to the Central Iranian Plateau, with an estimated population of 60 adult cheetahs remaining. The main threat to the Asiatic cheetah is loss of their primary prey species, gebeer gazelle (Gazella dorcas), goitered gazelle (Gazella subgothrosa), urial sheep (Ovis orientalis) and wild goat (Capra aegagrus), due to poaching and grazing competition with domestic livestock. Habitat loss from mining development and poaching of Asiatic Cheetahs also threaten their populations in Iran. "Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)" and the "Department of Enavironment , Iran (DoE)" hope to begin collaring Asiatic Cheetahs in the fall of 2006.

How are Meinertzhagen's views on Salim Ali any important then someone else's? Meinertzhagen is a racist and a fraud. His views on Salim Ali should not have any influence on our understanding of Salim Ali; Especially not his views on Salim Ali's political bearings and alleged incompetence in the field.
