I would also like to add this point: I am in total agreement with my colleague that the addition to the futon article that you removed had not been promotional, but factual, as evidenced by the citations listed. All too often, the contributions of women in business, engineering and other fields are trivialized, erased and forgotten by time. By noting the real and documented contribution that Ms. Pearl had made to what is now known as the western futon in the United States, we are properly acknowledging a historical fact. I would propose that a compromise would be to add a new Wiki page on the Western adapted futon, distinct from the original Japanese, and link the two pages, thus honoring the cultural heritage of what most Americans think of today as a futon.--Staceydfla (talk) 22:26, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
