Thanks for The Fifth Man (novel) article we notice you making good use of the template offered :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 17:50, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi seeing your interest in books and novels, I was wondering if you might like to get envolved with our as yet small (revitalised) WikiProject. Being a small group currently there is plenty of scope for influencing things and making your contribution count. We are about establishing standards for Novel based articles and writing articles that meet our own and others high standards, and to improve Wikipedia's diet of articles on Fiction books, otherwise called Novels. Please be very welcome. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 17:50, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional characters

Short answer yes, we should have a article template for such articles.

We just hadn't got round to it. If you would like to start something off try calling it

Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/CharacterArticleTemplate_temp
to start with, base it on ideas gleaned from other fictional character articles and use the novel /ArticleTemplate as a style. Knock something up and I'll have a look as soon as I can. If that appears to be going in the right direction we can add it to the Project page and get general comments and go from there.

What I will say though is we are bearly underway as a re-launched project and need to gain our feet a little with others writing the core Novel articles themselves, we don't want to try too much and fail. All the best :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 19:36, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

response to note on Kevinelewis talk page

Ok I saw this, and I know this is not my talk page, but one comment to make here is that we do not need to many or confusing templates. Lets remember the main goal of this project. I'm all for this if it makes articles easier to find(for improvement) or easier to categorize.

List of films set in San Francisco

For your information, I created for the French-language Wikipédia a

San Francisco, California
.

It is quite exhaustive, although I didn't list TV films nor films set in San Francisco but not shot there. I also excluded movies that only had a scene or two in San Francisco, keeping only those which had most of their plot set in the City. --Arnaudh 21:39, 29 June 2006 (UTC)--Arnaudh 21:35, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for adding the {{NJT rail line}} templates to all the station articles today. However, don't put it on the Newark City Subway and River LINE stations yet. The thing is, I'd rather add another parameter for "type" of rail, so that the article title generated is xxx (NCS station) rather than xxx (NJT station), which then just becomes a redirect page. If you want to look into how to do this, be my guest. But yeah, thanks again for your work and hold off on those "non-rail" stations! lensovet 20:26, 3 July 2006 (UTC) P.S. I also want to do something about the MidTOWN direct trains, I'd rather avoid having two separate rows for them and instead just have text saying heading to Hoboken/NYC Penn; again if you know how to - go ahead and tweak the template! Thanks again.[reply]

Cool, btw I added a "default" value for the new "type" parameter. see the template talk for details. lensovet 20:54, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've really "upgraded" the template, though right now it still only supports one "destination" station, but regardless, take a look. lensovet 23:37, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've made changes to both templates and their talk pages; let me know if some of the edits don't make sense. Also, the code for having multiple terminals is about to go live, once I iron out a few kinks. lensovet 01:33, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just a quick note on why I use {{{type}}} for the Category switch - remember, the category is for the station itself, not the stations that come before or after it. I've also rolled back the two-directional and two-next-station edits; they didn't work. lensovet 02:21, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Station stubs

Hey, thanks for doing all the stations, however, you should really use {{US-depot-stub}} (which, despite its misleading name, is actually for train stations in the US) instead of {{US-rail-stub}}. lensovet 21:21, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to stations

Don't forget that you can use {{njt-sta}} in articles (like I did in the List of NJT stations) – this is prettier and quicker than the regular [[XXX (NJT station|XXX]] linking! lensovet 00:31, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wayne-Route 23

I have listed this for proposed deletion, as I cannot find any evidence that this is being planned. If you have a source, please add it. --SPUI (T - C) 19:32, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SPUI

haha, he actually did make some good changes, i.e. the way routes are now put in (you just put in the name, not a full link). for the time being I think we need to prevent njt-sta from being deleted, then we can work on the other templates. he's got some good ideas, so don't dismiss him completely lol. lensovet 22:41, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, you already voted against the deletion here. I also left a note on spui's talk page asking him to put back the category stuff into his new template. lensovet 22:47, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wayne station

it wasn't anything major in terms of content, there was just the problem of a) a see also heading which didn't really make sense (that section should just have links to other wiki articles related to the main article and b) the references section being below the njt box and station stub. that's all, really, just a matter of order of sections. just a minor suggestion would be to move "benefits" into the intro and "costs" in the current status. also for the current status heading, i'd remove the "of project" part, because that's really implied.

so in summary, the "major" issues were major in terms of how the page looked and how content was laid out. it wasn't an issue with the content itself. good job on expanding the article, though, i wasn't aware of the project either. lensovet 23:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good news

Just wanted to let you know, looks like the template {{njt-sta}} is back in action. Use accordingly! lensovet 07:06, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Catch-22

Hi Temlakos - was looking at your template for fictional characters in novels - and would like some advise on how to usse it for Catch-22.

As you might know, Catch-22 is based around a multitude of characters - and the prospect of sorting its pages looks very daunting.

Please look at the talk section of Catch-22 for previous discussion, but I was thinking of using your template for all the major characters, and a slimmed down version for the minor ones. The very minor ones, I think, should be merged into suitable other characters, as part of their story.

So any advise on how to proceed with this novel wikiproject - please leave your thoughts on the Catch-22 talk page if you could.

Cheers --Lethaniol 20:25, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks from Lethaniol

Thanks Temlakos for the help with Catch-22, will look to start work with your template soon - suggest reading Catch-22 as it must be in the top 100 novels of all time - but then I am biased:):)

--Lethaniol 22:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hello

hello old friend, where have you been? do you still read wikipedia? SPUI has apparently decided to take a break from wiki and generally leave the whole NJT rail line business alone, so we can get back to work. Hope to see you back soon! —lensovettalk – 20:13, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: navbox

There could be several reasons (not copied everything over, you have not flushed your browser cache, you are using an older version of MediaWiki). A link to the wiki in question would be helpful. Cheers, —Ruud 21:37, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I spotted two errors. Firstly, you have forgotten to copy over the hasClass function. Secondly, the google analytics snippet you are using also gives an error in Firefox, which might prevent other JavaScripts from running. Cheers, —Ruud 18:07, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
