Stubsensor

I must say. It's awfully nice to be working with you again. Been far too long. :) --Woohookitty(meow) 09:15, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, when I saw stubsensor on the list, I said "Triddle!". I'm not kidding. :) Little things make me happy. :-D But good to see it back. It looks like it's about the same % as always. About 1/3rd are charts and such. Everything else is way too long for the tag. --Woohookitty(meow) 02:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Triddle! I have seen that things are "heating up" (for lack of a better term?) for the stubsenor... I just wanted to see if you're aware of any mistakes I've made, or if I've ticked anyone off. Thanks for your help, and your sincere "welcome to wikipedia!". Hi and thanks for the support. I'm working on making stubsensor even more accurate right now; when I get it working again (I had to get destructive on it to become ultimately constructive) I'll put the new cleanup project back at the cleanup projects template. If its not so far in the future that I forget, I'll even leave you a note so you know when the new list is ready. Take it easy! Triddle 00:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree that Syrian Jews should be de-stubbed. There are still some headings not filled in, while several other headings (e.g. Arrival of Spanish Jews, and Syrian Jews in Israel) have only snippets of information and are still waiting for the basic facts. --Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) 10:19, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In reference to the current stub sensor User:Triddle/stubsensor/20070206 may i suggest placing help info from the older stubsensor pages (for eg move all the info from User:Triddle/stubsensor/20050421 into the latest stub list and keep that page as a historical reference; (you're job and how to help) even though they are similar, i found different (and sometimes more helpful info) on some of the older stub project pages and so having one page with all the info of what to do, when to consider having a expand tag or when to consider when to remove it etc would be cool... and you can leave the older completed projects with what was achieved for example... Anyway that's just my 2 cents, thanks for creating an excellent and easy way to contribute to wikipedia hehe, just out of curiosity, is the list generated from a random 10,000 stubs or is thats how many stubs are present that might not be stubs anymore? Hello

Hello Triddle I'm Aeon of the Wikipedia Mediation Cabal. Jake as requested Mediation in an issue with images on Beard. Here is the Mediation Cabal File on the matter. Mediation Cabal is an informal orginization so there is nothing to lose. Please reply to this as whether you accept or not. Aeon Insane Ward 00:46, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Something to consider

Hello, Triddle. I noticed that you have accepted mediation by Aeon1006 and I just wanted to let you know that another user and I have interacted with him in the past, while he was an Advocate, and he did his client a huge disservice. Instead of trusting and representing his client, Aeon1006 actually took sides immediately and was clearly partisan against the party he had promised to represent! The allegations are attached. He recently resigned from the AMA, and agreed to become a mediator, for which your case is the very first that he's mediated. I just wanted to bring this to your attention, in case he decides to "take sides" again. UCRGrad 05:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copy/pasted: I am concerned about the recent behavior of Aeon1006, a volunteer advocate of Wikipedia’s Association of Members’ Advocates (AMA).

It has come to my attention that Aeon1006 violated the trust of his client, Insert-Belltower, and acted in such a manner that was unbecoming of an advocate.

The facts of the matter are as follows:

On July 11, 2006, Aeon1006 agreed to be an advocate for Insert-Belltower, who was seeking help defending against hostile efforts of editors Amerique and WHS.

On July 12, 2006, Aeon1006 sought statements from Insert-Belltower (I-B), but strangely, also an opposing opinion’s from I-B’s direct opposition, Amerique and WHS. He did so without consulting with his client, I-B.

On July 12, 2006, Aeon1006 requested that ElKevbo bring his opinion into the discussion. ElKevbo was a party known to oppose I-B, and his testimony was in opposition to I-B’s cause.

On July 13, 2006, WHS (opposing side) complained to Aeon1006 that Insert-Belltower had made unauthorized changes to his user talk page. In response, Aeon1006 wrote “Thank you I will investigate that and notify Mackensen [admin].” Instead of advocating on behalf of his client, Aeon1006 attempted to bring charges against Insert-Belltower with the admins. In fact, he ratted out his client to this admin on his talk page.

On July 14, 2006, Aeon1006 attempted to required all editors to obey the “fairness of tone” policy in their TALK discussions. However, Aeon1006 erroneously applied WP:NPOV#Fairness_of_tone to TALK discussion, when this rule specifically applies to article content.

On July 15, 2006, Aeon1006 demanded, in a public discussion, that his own client apologize to individuals for sockpuppetry, even though I-B’s alleged sockpuppetry did not actually affec any of these particular individuals (occurred at a different time).

On July 15, 2006, Aeon1006 wrote that his client was “stubborn.”

On July 16, 2006, Aeon1006 began assisting I-B’s direct opposition, Amerique – volunteering to submit an RfC against I-B’s side of the disagreement. As an advocate, Aeon1006 had access to privileged and confidential information from I-B – Aeon1006 now violates that privileged role and has agreed to use his knowledge to support the party that originally opposed his client.

A quick read through each of Aeon1006’s statements on his desk reveals that NONE of his comments were in support of his client. About a third of them were in opposition to I-B, and another third were essentially praising I-B’s opposition. As you can see, even from day #1, (July 12), Aeon1006 failed to fulfill his duty as I-B’s advocate, despite his promise to do so. It is certainly possible that Aeon1006 did not agree with his client’s position. If that were the case, then the appropriate and responsible action, under his duty as AMA advocate, would be to let I-B know that he couldn’t represent him. Instead, Aeon1006 took actions that hurt his client’s position. Aeon1006 never gave I-B the benefit of the doubt, or discussed with him in private the best way to handle the case. A quick review of I-B’s talk page will reveal almost zero help from Aeon1006. The last straw, was when Aeon1006 took advantage of his role as confidant and privileged position as I-B’s advocate to file an RfC against I-B’s party on behalf of Amerique, I-B’s direct opposition.

All of the above can be confirmed by reading Aeon1006's talk page, where he supposedly acted as an advocate for I-B, but instead hindered him and supported his opposition instead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Aeon1006/AMA

REGARDLESS of whether I-B was in the right or wrong (and I believe I-B has been a valuable editor), Aeon1006’s conduct as supposed-advocate was a breach of trust and highly unprofessional. In fact, Aeon1006 would be hard pressed to demonstrate that he offered any advocacy at all, especially in the context of all the harm he did in his role. Such behavior is not consistent with the core goals and values of the Association of Member’s Advocates. Aeon1006 should not have the opportunity to violate the trust of another editor again. As such, I hereby request that Aeon1006 be removed from the AMA.

  • Hey Triddle, just to give you a heads up, This user has a conduct RfC on him which will most likley go up to ArbCom. Several Editors have issues with him and two editors have posted on his talk page for him to cease Wikistalking. I'm very sorry he got you invloved in his dispute. Hopefuly this will not derail the Mediation that you are in now. But if you feel that I'm able to handle the mediation then I will understand. Aeon Insane Ward 00:06, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Jake. My purpose was not to "derail" the mediation you have in progress, as I have no idea what your dispute is about, and I am a strong believer in the mediation process when it is appropriate. I used to also have a firm belief in the principle of advocacy, right up until I witnessed Aeon1006 turn against the client he promised to help. I wouldn't expect you to do anything differently with respect to this mediation, but I think it's important that you are aware of Aeon1006's behavior as an supposed-advocate. If you feel that you didn't want to be alerted of this, please let me know and I will apologize. Personally, I would want to know if the supposedly-neutral person I had agreed to accept mediation from had done with Aeon1006 did. UCRGrad 01:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm amazed he has contacted you about civility, because in fact he started by explicitly slandering my WIKI contributions! He was the initiator. None of his claimed flaws in my articles were shown upon debate to be flaws, but to be misunderstandings, derived from his lack of knowledge of the subject matter. I've had to spend a considerable amount of time correcting factual errors he has inserted all over the IT sections, which I could have better used for writing. StubSensor

Hey, i'm a little concerned at your recent use of the StubSensor. You've been removing stubs from a number of Australian articles which are legitimate stubs and replacing them with section stubs. The main issue with this is that removing these stubs stops the articles being correctly classified and left in the relevant stub category for improvment and action by relevant persons. I'd appreciate it if you could get in touch with me on this, because while I can understand the need for stub cleanup - this process isn't necessarily helpful to anyone. Hi and thank you...

Hi, I'm Neranei, and I just joined stubsensor a few days ago; I have finished 3 sections so far. I just have 1 question. If there is an article, say, about a train station closed in the 1950s, and there is one long-ish paragraph, and a ton of charts, is that considered a stub? Also, if there is an article about an obscure football/soccer team that has 1 medium paragraph and a ton of charts, is that a stub? What should I do in those situations? Please leave a not on my talk page, and thanks for helping Wikipedia, aka the greatest repository for humand knowledge and graffitti. Thanks!

Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles

We ended up doing some category shuffling and setting up the project

Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles. We started with Dec 2005 and are up to June 2006 now (some were small). If you look at the history you can see where we tried a couple of different approaches. I think it has pretty much settled down into a workable version. I go through every few days and just count how many articles are in the category and update the graph. Take a look and see what you think, the project turned into a broader cleanup then just changing tags. Jeepday (talk) 13:04, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply

Just did my first section on this run. First question would be how old is the data set you are running the query against? I did find a few nice big articles with out stub tags. When I checked the history all but one had lost the tag in the last few weeks. So my first impression is that it is pretty clean run. If I notice anything else I will let you know. Hey hey, it does appear that there are some articles that dont even have a stub tag yet are very large articles, Here are some examples
  • Oregon
  • List of unused highways
  • History of medicine
  • Simoun (anime)
  • Battle of Berlin
  • Interstate 40
  • Kevin Mitnick
  • The Goonies
  • Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe
  • Kirby Company
  • Characters in Spirou et Fantasio
  • Asami Jō

That is from the first page on the first 4 sections (so in 80 articles whether needing stub removal or not (thus having a stub tag) a few showed up never needing to be on the list)... i did notice a few cases in the last stubsensor project so i didnt take note of it this time thinking bugs r bound to happen...Ill keep a list (such at the one above) of articles that never had a stub (for a while) in the first place and get back to you in a few months time. Your conduct on the Gitmo page

Hi, I'm replying to your comment on my talk page.

I wonder if you have actually tried to read through the whole 19 printed pages of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Any person who reads this article will find that it is hopelessly one-sided. Take a look at the contribution history of the authors of this article like Geo Swan and please tell me with a straight face that they are not in fact on a POV crusade - to attack the US government and its conduct on the war on terror. Geo Swan has authored tens if not hundreds of articles, each one about some suspected terrorist and presuming that he is automatically innocent while the US government and the men and women who work in it are automatically guilty of false imprisonment, torture and human rights violations.

At some point, I have to stand up and say that Wikipedia cannot be used for one-sided propaganda that slanders the men and women who are prosecuting a difficult and dangerous war on terror. Fair criticism of actual abuse and human rights violations is always correct and acceptable, especially when placed in context of the monstrous atrocities committed by the other side. One-sided propaganda and slander of my country is not acceptable.

WP:CIVIL cannot degenerate into WP:DONTEVERCRITICIZE
.

I will point out that I am contributing constructively to the article as follows:

  • I have marked up the sections that are unbalanced and junk. To his credit, Hyposadist has started to clean up some of them. My pointing out that this article is a POV crusade has had some constructive effect already.
  • I am working offline on a new outline that will replace this 19 page research article with a 3 page summary that is actually balanced and encyclopedic. This is no small task given that the article in its current state has become unstructured rambling. Since you care about editing in a constructive environment, I encourage you to contribute to this effort and help verify the outcome.

Thanks for your civil language and I look forward to working with you as well :-) Kevinp2 15:53, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will continue acting the way I do towards the other editor involved as long as they keep harassing me. Thanks for visiting! SpigotMap 03:37, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am reviewing the unblock request of this editor. Could you please provide me with diffs for the uncivil or disruptive conduct he was blocked for? Thanks, Sandstein 05:30, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also looking into this unblock request. Did you notice, when you blocked this user for 7 days, that you did so almost a full 24 hours after the behavior stopped? SQL(Query Me!) 18:23, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to bug you with another message so soon... I just want to make sure I had this straight. Was the 48 hour block, for the same incident as the 7 day block? SQL(Query Me!) 18:35, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block of SpigotMap

As the user has asked for a review of his block, I'm looking into your block of SpigotMap this afternoon. After Jpgordon unblocked, can you point to where the user broke the three revert rule with more than three reverts on the same page in a 24-hour period? I have now read everything relevant. I find a week-long block for an old non-violation of the three revert rule to be excessive and punitive, and the circumstances in which you applied it after another admin had overturned your block are questionable. I am going to unblock SpigotMap, with advice on how he should conduct himself. Sam Blacketer 21:00, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with Sam above, and would have unblocked the user if he had not done it. I find it puzzling that you chose to issue a
WP:AN if you are unsure how to properly deal with users that you think are behaving disruptively. Thanks, Sandstein 21:14, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply
