Hello, Uhai,

I have found your Quarry query for nonexistend User pages very helpful. It is very strict and so I've never come across a false positive. What I mainly find is new editors who move their draft articles from their User sandboxes on to a User page because they don't change the namespace field to Draft.

I was wondering if your technical wizardry could help with another problem. Some new editors move their drafts into User space but others get confused and move their drafts into Wikipedia/Project space, thinking that it is the main space of the project. Or, their articles get tagged for deletion and they move them out of main space into project space as kind of safe space to keep them. However, when I have done searches of Wikipedia space for these articles and redirects, I'm at a loss because there are thousands of redirects in Wikipedia space to policy pages, noticeboards and essays, many more redirects than actual pages of content (excepting archive pages).

So, is there any way you could run a query for pages that have recently been moved from User space or Draft space to Wikipedia space? I sometimes can find these pages when I look over the Move log but I'm sure there is more there in project space that no one, even the page creator, will stumble upon. I use another Quarry query for articles that were created on orphaned Talk pages and I thought a new query could do something similar. I thought if your query focused on recently moved pages, it could avoid any legitimate project pages. But I'm not sure of the code language to do this and whether it is even possible!

Hi @Liz: I can definitely take a shot at this for you. I have a few different ideas that could work for how to do this; I'll ping you again in a few days with what I come up with. In the meantime, I'm not sure if you're aware of this abuse filter: Special:AbuseFilter/850, but it kind of does what you're asking. Unfortunately, it still shows attempted moves where the user read the warning and (appropriately) did not continue the move to project space. Uhai (talk) 23:15, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

@Liz: I've drafted a query that should (hopefully) get you what you're looking for: quarry:query/72231. It does seem like the vast majority of mistaken moves to the project space get noticed and handled by other editors, but some do slip through the cracks and this query will show you those (note the timestamps of the entries; not too many slip by each month). I've done my best to filter out false positives from the current results, although as new moves happen, it's very likely some new false positives will appear. I may still tweak the query but go ahead and give it a try; everything currently returned should likely be eligible for G6, either as a move without redirect or straight deletion.

When I get some more time, I also want to experiment with queries that will show pages in the project space that redirect outside of it, along with new users straight up creating articles directly in the project space without any moves. Uhai (talk) 08:46, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

The bar for unambiguous promotion is that the page is clearly written as an advertisement and can't possibly serve any other purpose; I didn't think that was met here. But thank you for flagging it, a commercial draft that's repeatedly recreated is also a good indicator of unambiguous promotion; it was also a copyright violation and created by a sockpuppet, so I have now deleted it under all three criteria. In the future you can use {{salt}} to draw attention to a page that's repeatedly recreated, I can't really see it otherwise unless I go looking. Ivanvector (^Talk/_Edits) 20:57, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Uhai, thank you for the clarification regarding USER PAGES. You deleted mine, but if it was violating or misused, that's ok.

My question is regarding this Miami logo uploaded by user: FLAGVISIONER. This is a project I worked with the City of Miami that we will publish via press release publicly soon with credit to me and my studio. You can see my original upload with date-stamp in 2020. Wondering how we can upload the correct SVG version (user FLAGVISIONER simply vectorized it from a JPG and it looks damaged, I have the original files ready) and how I can get credit as the designer on record for the page.

Hi @Acevvvedo: Unfortunately, I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to image policy on Wikipedia. What you're asking would probably just involve clicking on "Upload a new version of this file" under "File history" to upload the higher-quality, original SVG in place of the current traced version, but there may be concerns with licensing/permission. I highly recommend you ask at the WP:Teahouse as the people there will be much more knowledgeable than me. Uhai (talk) 16:50, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
