Maltese blessed
Being part of the Wikiproject Saints myself, I am ready to help you as usual in such articles.
Motto problem
Regarding the motto, I am quite sure the motto is correct, in fact I wrote to the DOI who will give me an official reply regarding the status of the motto. If I remember well, I had heard
Dr. Edward Fenech Adami
say its importance as a motto.
Coat of Arm problem
Thank you for copyediting the coat of arm article. It is quite obvious that the wording was a per the 1964 Coat of Arms Act or whatever its called description, of which I hold a copy and therefore it was not a copy vio. Mere descriptions of items should not be considered as copy vio.
Flags and symbols of Malta article, I had recognized the wording style. Unfortunately I do not have the 1964 documentation so I had to use an alternative, yet still valid, reasoning. └VodkaJazz / talk

Disney/Barney vandal
Per
WP:AIV, the rule seems to be that a block can be issued if the user vandalises after a final warning and the vandalism is less than 24 hours old at the time of the block. That would apply here -- except that this seems to be a school account and giving a 24 or 48 hour block on a Saturday wouldn't accomplish much. Write me again if it happens on Monday and I will take action then. Thanks, NawlinWiki

How to...?
How do you propose an article for deletion? I've been wanting to get rid of This for days now.
Lest you should think me a horrific typist or othographist, I should observe that the betwixt locution was not the result of a typo but, instead, of the intentional use of a synonym for between (see, e.g.,
American English from British English, but I've come to appreciate that betwixt has been relegated to the realm of the archaic, such that my formulation was wrong and your edit was quite proper; good on ya. So, yes, that's about six lines of text to say absolutely nothing, but I mean only to observe that I'm not a total nutcase (mostly a nutcase, yes, but not totally)... :) Joe

Thanks for adopting me
Hiya, thanks for adopting me :)
I'm not very focused on any particular projects in Wiki, but have a few items on the go which are listed on the top of my user page.
I have the idea that there's a way to request a page, but I can't find it now. I though of this because I noticed the page on GCS doesn't list the medical use for it, and I have no doubt that medics could do a much better job than me at sorting this if I can alert them. Is there a standard mechanism for that?
Any tips & comments welcome :) --Mortice 18:56, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
GCS
Hi, I was flagging about no page for the medical term GCS - I checked it out and found it refers to the Glasgow Coma Scale which, of course, was listed on GCS all along. Thanks for your help --Mortice 21:16, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Copyright of lycrics
Hi, your adoptee here :)
I have an interest in writing an article about a song - Glad to be Gay by Tom Robinson (started forming notes). One thing I'd like to do is include the lycrics of the song, which have changed over the years in interesting ways.
I imagine there must be an issue with the copyright nature of song lycrics. However, I see that the article Tom Robinson includes a verse from the song. I believe there's a clause in copyright law that allows fair use for quoting subsections from a copyright work, so could this verse be included on that page under that clause, or should it be removed?
There are many other websites that list the lycrics of the song (such as here) but I guess they're not operating legally.
I might be able to get agreement from the copyright owner for use (which I guess would not make the work public domain as such) - how then should I annotate the work the knowledge that it's authorised usage?
I imagine the answer is that nothing should be used anywhere unless it's unequivocally public domain, in which case I'll remove the lyrics on the already on Tom Robinson --Mortice 23:36, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Proposal for managing song lists on Simpons episodes
Hi - I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on the 'proposal' page I've created
Wikipedia:WikiProject The Simpsons/Proposal for managing song lists on Simpons episodes --Mortice
23:30, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for moving my page to fix the spelling error :)
Only one person so far has expressed a view on the proposal, even though I've posted a link on talk pages for The Simpsons, the project page and the 'list of songs' page. I wouldn't mind so much if people thought it was a bad idea, but I don't know what to make of no response at all. I feel it's not the sort of thing I should plunge into implementing without some endorsement from the community.
Is there a way I should make this proposal more formally, to request comments? --Mortice 20:52, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Virtual classroom
I've set up the
Virtual classroom
(VC), which is a forum for the discussion of advanced Wikipedia skills. It differs from the help forums on Wikipedia in that major topics of discussion are scheduled and once started remain continuous.
The reason I'm contacting you is because one of the class assignments is a comparison of our user interfaces. A lot can be learned from individual users, who usually have developed their own ways of doing things. I noticed you are an expert programmer, so you no doubt have some tricks up your sleeve. I'm hoping that you will stop by and share and compare the interfaces you use when browsing and working on Wikipedia. I've also constructed a tools page which presents everything learned from these discussions, and it is growing -- there are some pretty powerful techniques on there now. Even
Hi, VodkaJazz, I am very sorry but I reverted your edit to Chess (with the exception of dropped "weasel words") because I feel that in the main article about chess we should keep this part very short - many much more important things (e.g. chess openings or many names of important masters) must be dropped out due to the length of the article. Happy editing! :-) --Ioannes Pragensis 19:49, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Tao of Jeet Kune Do
VodkaJazz,
I reverted your edits to Tao of Jeet Kune Do because:
A. The 2006 Edition part is NOT an advertisement. It describes a very important addition that this book is now available in Hardback. I surmise you are not a martial artist as this fact is very important to any disciples of Jeet Kune Do and or martial artists interested in this book.
B. The Link to Black Belt Magazine is a reference as all wikipedia article are required to have some reference.
C. The paragraph about the authorship is not meant to be flaming and neither is it useless. There have been some editors to this article that do not understand what they were editing because they didn't even bother reading the book. The paragraph is there to defend what is written based on the reference.
In the future please do not remove edits solely based on your opinions and discuss, thank you.FrankWilliams 22:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Also the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking.
Furthermore numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a
list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Welcome to the first issue of the WikiProject Eurovision newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
About two weeks ago, I was bold and decided that our entire WikiProject needed to be reorganized. I am seeking to put into effect new guidelines on page layouts, templates, and basically to make all related articles consistent. Part of this reorganization included improving our assessment department since one didn't really exist before and completely reformatting the main page.
Also, it is my opinion that the project be renamed "WikiProject Eurovision Song Contest" and that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest be officially included. I believe that the Eurovision Dance Contest should be separate since it shares nothing in common aside from the EBU.
We also need to work on bringing new members into this project; especially during these months when not much is going on in the Eurovision world. If you would like to invite someone to join the WikiProject, our invitation template on their talk page. Now is when we need to get our project's pages up to par for next year's contest and make everything as accurate and in depth as possible. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions for the project on either my talk or the project's.
More people need to reply to questions on talk pages. Other users need our help!

Welcome to the second issue of the WikiProject Eurovision newsletter! This newsletter has been quite a success so far and I hope it continues to be so. I hope to rotate as much as possible who writes this "From the Members" section each month so everyone gets a chance to contribute.
The process of fully reorganising this project is still under way. A compromise is being formed to re-name this project WikiProject Eurovision Song Contest, but allow it to include the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as it is similar. The Eurovision Dance Contest will have its own project created simultaneously. I personally agree with this proposal, a final decision has not been made yet however.
Issue relating to Eurovision can be complicated and disagreements do form. This was particularly shown in the aftermath of Kosovo's declaration of independence and the creation of a

Welcome to the third edition of the WikiProject Eurvision newsletter! This newsletter is surely catching on, and I'm sure that if we continue to rotate the editors' section as much as possible, everyone'll get a chance to contribute and it'll definitely be more diverse.
The project is still in need of re-organising. Nothing has happened in the form of splitting the project between the song and dance contests in over a month, and I feel that we really need to push forward with this. To add your comments just leave a message in the talk page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Project Scope.
Throughout September, a lot of things have happened in relation to the Eurovision Song Contest 2009; the announcement of the return of the jury into the final was the biggest news. However, more news appeared, such as the Dutch representative being announced, as well as more countries announcing their participation at the contest. Before long the national finals around Europe will start, and the countdown will be on to 16 May.
With everything that's been happening, I'd like to encourage everyone to do their best to contribute to all Eurovision-related Wikipedia articles, and welcome our new members to the project.
Is there an article you think we should have? Make a request for it to be made here.

Malta announced the names of the songs taking part in its national final.
Hadise will represent Turkey and will have complete control over the selection of her song.
Andorra and Romania announced the format of their national finals.
Bulgaria's Be A Star has gone into full swing with the first monthly selection and its corresponding heats held in October.
The songs of Melodifestivalen 2009 were announced along with the contest's schedule of rounds.
Welcome to the fourth edition of the WikiProject Eurvision newsletter! As the contest gets into full swing, more and more editors will come and edit the project's articles. It is important that we not only make sure that the correct information is added, but try to help the users who added the information if possible. We learn through our mistakes, so leave a reminder on their talk page.
November is unique in that it will have two newsletters going out. This one along with a November supplement that will recap what happened in November. We decided to switch to an end of the month format so say the October Newsletter summarizes what happened in October, which it doesn't in its current first day of the month delivery. By December, the newsletter will come out at the end of every month.
So far I am very happy with how the project is going about four months after its reorganization. We get into arguments here and there, but members' opinions and comments are crucial to the project's existence. They keep us on our toes and help us continue to be a great source of Eurovision history.
Sorry that this issue is a little late, I've been busy ;)

The deadline for countries to enter the 2009 contest has closed, with at least 42 countries scheduled to participate.

Welcome to the fifth edition of the WikiProject Eurvision newsletter!
Just a couple of short months after starting the newsletter and reorganizing the Eurovision project, things are finally starting to look good and consistent for 2009!
As we move into December, and ever closer to the "heart" of the National Final/Selection season, I would like to remind members to take a look at the project description/guideline on the project page and try to follow it the best way possible as the season progresses. Our main goal here is to have all of the articles consistent, while also being able to nominate them for GA status or above once the 2009 contest is over. The best and easiest way to achieve this is if we all work together and follow the guidelines. I would also like to remind users to source all information added into articles, preferably by reliable/established sources. Any questions regarding sources should be asked on the project talk page. Also, there is a large backlog of 1087 Unassessed Eurovision articles that need to be assessed. Any help with assessment will be appreciated and noted.
If we can manage to work together and follow the guidelines, as well as monitoring unregistered IP addresses, I think the 2009 season will go by much easier than past years! Sure we will still get into our little arguments here and there, and have different opinions about editing, but that's part of the whole editing experience. What fun would there be without the occasional drama? Just remember that at the end of the day, we are all working towards a common goal.
