Malformed request? What is this, the Supreme Court? "Your brief does not comply with Rule 39:6(b), petition for certiorari denied." Go easy on these dudes! -

Help requested

Hi

I'm writing to you - and others - because you are one of several people who appears to have experienced the same thing as I have noticed and experienced.

Namely a pattern of vandalism by an anonymous user. The IP # is 66.229.10.64

See this user's talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:66.229.10.64

This user has been temporarily blocked several times. I notice that the pattern is the same.

The person doesn't seem to respond to polite community requests to engage in dialogue - or to desist from repeatedly making edits that several editors consider to be vandalism.

I am not that experienced in these matters but can there be an attempt made to block this user permanently? Or at least for a period of time so that the person gets a message about respecting the community. Thanks. Davidpatrick 03:27, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mariano Rivera unprotected

The Mariano Rivera page has been unprotected and edit warring has re-started. Could you please go see the history of this page to see the edit summaries and whether semi-protection is necessary? Canjth 11:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Protection abuse

Where is your reasons or discussion about this protection of a blatantly pov-pushing article? You protected the article on Michael Ignatieff in the middle of his election campaign after the editor(s) like Currie got it exactly the way they wanted it. Protection was not needed. Minor Edit on Michael Ignatieff

Hi Winhunter. I noticed a small duplication error on the (now-protected) Michael Ignatieff article. The second paragraph of the "Writings" section reads:

"A historian by training, he wrote A Just Measure of Pain, a history of prisons during the Industrial Revolution. His biography of Isaiah Berlin, reveals the strong impression the celebrated philosopher made on Ignatieff. The latter work explores social welfare and community, and also shows Berlin's influence. Philosophical writings by Ignatieff include The Needs of Strangers and The Rights Revolution. The latter work explores social welfare and community, and shows Berlin's influence on Ignatieff. These tie closely to Ignatieff's political writings on national self-determination and the imperatives of democratic self-government. Ignatieff has also written extensively on international affairs."

The sentence "The latter work explores social welfare and community, and also show's Berlin's influence" appears twice. Could you please remove the first instance? It probably got duplicated up during the recent edit wars, as the sentence is clearly referring to The Rights Revolution. Thanks! -- Gaius Octavius | Talk 18:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for taking care of my protection request. Would you mind adding the protection tag for my user page, though? :: Colin Keigher 06:17, 26 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Bot flagging

Howdy! You left a note on my page about waiting to get flagged on my bot account and was just wondering how long that takes? Should I have put a request in somewhere? Thanks! --PlangeBot 20:55, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and meant to ask if you could reply either here or on my regular Talk page (not my Bot0 so it won't stop the current run I'm doing) Thanks! --plange 21:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature:
Admin Coaching
(needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider
signing up to be a coach
.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The
Tutorial Drive
is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of
    proposed programs
has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the
    Tutorial Drive
! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

About your username...

Is your username any reference to a Microsoft Windows running programme? I am interested in ICT, and would be interested to find out what the programme does.
