Any relation to Wookieepedia? - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:36, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, unfortunately I didn't become aware of Wookiepedia until well after I'd made this name. Oops and rats, I'd thought I was so clever when I was registering this name for the first time. Oh well. But I do like Chewbacca. Actually, I like Princess Leia more 8^o

Good work...
...adding sources and detail to 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. I'm trying to clarify one thing, though -- the U.S. broadcast was a time delay half a day later. I watched the live Polish and German coverage (channel-surfing between both) and no-one mentioned the use of CGI "fireworks" -- but NBC did 12 hours later. I'm not sure the live broadcasters realized this would be added to the feed; perhaps the story "broke" during this time? Regards, ProhibitOnions (T) 20:50, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the acknowledgement!
- As far as I can tell, the earliest that the story "broke" was August 10 Beijing-time (from the Daily Telegraph in the UK), after the ceremony had already finished airing around the world. The Daily Telegraph article was mentioned as the source for the Associated Press article, which then got distributed to all of the other newspapers and news sites.
- The footprint segment only lasted about 50 seconds; is it possible that European commentators' explanations were very brief and that most viewers missed it? Or is is possible that European commentators had the information, but chose not to mention it on air?
- Both Costas and Lauer made statements about the footage during their commentary; therefore, it seems unlikely that NBC would have roused BOTH of them out of bed to re-dub their commentary for that one 50-second spot (out of a total of 4 hours of events), especially since both guys had a lot of on-air work to do for the remaining two weeks; only one would have been sufficient for a re-dub. Also, I don't think in the 12-hour time lag anybody could have predicted that the information would cause a minor uproar.
- Plus, if NBC had bothered to do an audio edit, the two made some comments that should have been edited out! (By the way, it was quite clear that the two were physically at the Bird's Nest during the ceremony because they did short spontaneous interview segments with the stadium audience behind them just before the ceremony began and just after it ended.)

- Interesting. So the Chinese did let some people know ahead of time, then... ProhibitOnions (T) 19:02, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Your Revision as of 19:24, 21 October 2009 included the use of <ref name="Sutardja-Dai Hall"/> and <ref name="VMWARE_CoFounders"/>that are causing cite errors. Could you go back and fix the references? Thanks. 75.69.0.58 (talk) 20:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oops. Yes, I will do so ASAP. Thanks for alerting me. Wookiepedian (talk) 20:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
