Coaching page management

New requests Are added to the current request list in date order, newest at the end. Coaches will contact people at or near the top of the list, with preference being given to people who meet the guidelines below.
Requests which seem inactive Either no match has been agreed despite several weeks of being posted, or because they are withdrawn by the requester, or non-responsive or withdrawn, and where there is no sign of ongoing activity or interest, are moved periodically to the "older requests" section. This may be done once or twice a month by any editor.

Requests that are have been inactive for 6 months (or whose editor's account has been inactive for 4 months) will be removed from the list. You may not be notified of this - it is your responsibility to visit this page regularly.

Requests which are successfully matched Should be moved to the status. When the coaching effectively ends, please update that page to move the coachee from the Current student to Former student column. A coachee who does not edit for thirty (30) days without informing his coach of a longterm WP:Wikibreak, will be considered retired and moved to the Former student column. This is necessary given the limited number of coachee spots available and the desire to provide as much coaching contact to active users as is reasonably possible.
If you want to remove your request Remove your entry from the current or older list (depending on where it is) - do not renumber any other requests.

Coaches: Responding to a request

If you wish, you may contact a user at or near the top of the list. Leave a message under that person's name here, indicating you have contacted that person. If coaching commences, remove the request from this page and update your status.

In general, to help others, please note if you contact a requester (by appending "Contacted - ~~~~ to the line, for example). If there is no response after some time, then note this too, and consider whether the request looks ongoing, or whether to move it to older/inactive requests.

If a requester is missing something off the basic checklist (for example, no edit summaries, or 95% of edits are of one type), then let them know on their talk page, mark the request as responded to with a note as to the comment, and move it to inactive requests for the time being.

Checklist before requesting coaching

Current requests

New requests should be entered in the following syntax to the bottom of the Current list:

|-
|INDEX NUMBER
|{{UserVP|USERNAME}}
|DATE OF REGISTERING ON THIS LIST (in yyyy-mm-dd format)
|DATE OF LAST VISIT TO PAGE (in yyyy-mm-dd format)
|OPTIONAL COMMENT HERE
|{{ecpad|EDITCOUNT}}
|DATE OF FIRST EDIT (in yyyy-mm-dd format)
|{{MONTHDIFF2|DATE OF FIRST EDIT (in yyyy-mm-dd format)}} (=number of months as an editor)
|

Please note: To calculate the INDEX NUMBER, look at the last "Current" request's index number and add 1 to this. Do not fill in any 'gaps' in the number sequence - missing index numbers either show filled requests (that have been removed from this list), inactive requests (which are shown further down this page), or requests which have been withdrawn by the editor themselves.

Requests whose last visit is more than 6 weeks ago (before 2024-03-13) may be moved to "older requests" by any editor. (If the editor who moves an entry wants to notify the requester, the {{User:FlightTime/adco-moved}} template can be used for this purpose.) If you are still interested, please append to your request a note that the request is still active and the current date, and move it back to this section in order of INDEX NUMBER.

Requests whose last visit is more than 6 months ago (before 2023-10-30) or whose account has been inactive for more than 4 months (before 2023-12-30) will be removed from this page. Please note that you may not be informed of this. If you are still interested, please come back and create a new request. (If the editor who removes an entry wants to notify the requester, the user:phantomsteve/adco-removed template can be used for this purpose - please read the documentation for the template at User:Phantomsteve/adco-removed/doc)

Please read the basic checklist (above) first, and then if you'd benefit from coaching, add new requests to the end of this section.

Older requests - we need to know if you are still interested. If you are update the "date page last visited" box

If someone has proposed a pairing, they will add " (match pending) " in the admin notes box while it is being confirmed.
