local politician, has not yet won a significant election. DGG (talk) 02:18, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - Sorry to disagree with DGG, but I find, after a Google News search, as shown here, [1]], that Mr. Lander has gained enough coverage in thrid party - creditable - verifiable and independent souerces, outside the election, to qualify under our :notability guidelines for inclusion here on Wikipedia. Thanks. ShoesssS Talk 02:31, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - Mr. Lander seems to have notable, significant, sustained, and verifiable coverage to qualify under wikipedia's terms. He also has won several awards throughout his career by credible institutions, outside of his candidacy for office. - Keep Seems to meet [[WP:N] not enormously but it does meet it. Jamesofur (talk) 06:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Its not necessarily true that a person must win an election in order to have a Notable impact on politics. Eugene V. Debs is (an admittedly far more Notable) example of a perennial loser, who never-the-less was a very Notable and significant figure on the American political scene. The subject of this article seems to have substantial coverage in Reliable sources. KevinOKeeffe (talk) 21:36, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete most of the news sources seem to be due to his job as head of an environmental agency meaning that he sometimes contributes a quote. This is different from there being substantial coverage of him as a person. Valenciano (talk) 19:46, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment- Which actually strengthens my argument that Mr. Lander has gained coverage outside of just running for office. Combining all the factors circumstance/incidents/ and media coverage of multiple roles he has played in life lends itself to establishing notability under Wikipedia's current guidelines. - Delete Insufficient notability to meet guidelines. ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:23, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
