- Keep, meets WP:NBOOK, in addition to being adapted into a minseries, film, and stage show, it also won the 2004 Gaelyn Gordon Award, discussed in the books Maurice Gee: A Literary Companion: The Fiction For Young Readers (Representation and Responsibility in Under the Mountain and The Fat Man by Vivien van Rij), Rachel Barrowman's Maurice Gee: Life and Work, and Julia Eccleshare's 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up (listed here), also,Tessa Duder wrote about it for The Spinoff - "As someone whose debut novel appeared three years later, I believe Under the Mountain triggered a glorious new era in New Zealand’s children’s publishing.
