Propose renaming Category:Articles by Hunter S. Thompson to Category:Magazine articles by Hunter S. Thompson
Nominator's rationale: Rename - for consistency with the parent category and for the admittedly minor distinguishment that these are articles for magazines as opposed to scholarly journals or other publishers of articles. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 17:58, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Rolling Stone Magazine's lists (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Two entries don't make a list; these are easily found by typing in the name of the article themselves.

  • Keep just barely, with the addition of the third article -- mainly because it tells readers who are perusing Category:Music-related lists that the articles are about Rolling Stone magazine. But rename to Category:Rolling Stone magazine lists [or perhaps simply to Category:Rolling Stone magazine to accomodate other R/S material], since the one on cover celebs isn't about an article that was actually published in the magazine. Cgingold (talk) 03:17, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge to the parents as a small category unlikely to expand. It's rare that an article in Rolling Stone (list or otherwise) is going to attract separate attention sufficient to warrant an article. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 18:01, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • As a matter of fact, I've given some thought to creating an article about the RS interview/article that singlehandedly brought down the commanding general in Afghanistan. Cgingold (talk) 01:33, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • That would then make three RS articles out of the history of the magazine that have WP articles, still a small category and still a category with very little growth potential. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 03:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename to Category:Rolling Stone, making Rolling Stone its main article. Upmerge should not be an option becasue the parents are "magazine articles" and "music-related lists" neither of which really fit these categories (which form a group). • Whether one believes that a magazine article about the top 500 songs and top 500 albums are lists, they are unquestionably magazine articles. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 03:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Whatever name we settle on, it has to include the word "magazine" -- otherwise it runs the very real risk of people thinking it's about The Rolling Stones. Cgingold (talk) 07:03, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename to Category:Rolling Stone. I'm not overly concerned with the similarity to Category:The Rolling Stones, the main article in each should be enough to straighten people out (and if it isn't, we can add "magazine" or "band" to the category header somewhere). --Kbdank71 18:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
