all year categories from 1870 up to 1979
Nominator's rationale: delete per
WP:SMALLCAT, nearly all year categories from 1870 to 1979 are empty except for the Mosques completed subcategories. All that remains, in almost 100 categories, is four articles and Category:Iranian Revolution in 1979. There isn't a whole lot of growth potential; note that most of Category:History of Islam
is about medieval and Early Modern politics (Caliphates, Sultanates, Muslim dynasties), while articles that are about Islamic religion in modern times are mostly post 1980.
Note to closer: before deletion of these categories, the before-mentioned 4 articles and Category:Iranian Revolution should be moved to Category:20th-century Islam and to Category:YEAR in religion. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:00, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom without prejudice as to their later re-creation should volumes warrant it. Laurel Lodged (talk) 09:39, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- The categories that I looked at consisted of a single subcat - Mosques completed in 19xx. This is an unnecessary cat-level. Peterkingiron (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per
WP:TOPTEN - subjective and arbitrary —swpbT 14:05, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply

No, my rationale would just change to
WP:TOPTEN is a specific case. There needs to be a firm, non-subjective criterion for determining category membership, which doesn't exist in this case. Discussion of what films should be considered "psychological science fiction" belongs in article space, where statements can be explained, caveated, and most importantly, individually cited. It's just not an appropriate basis for a category, no matter whose list is used. —swpbT 19:19, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply
