- The result of the discussion was: selectively merge then delete. Some biographies might justifiably be added to Category:Tajik-language singers or Category:Tajikistani singers. – Fayenatic London 21:39, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Tajik singers to Category:Tajik-language singers
- Nominator's rationale: There is supposed to be a distinction between the language and the music, but it doesn't work. There isn't actually an article Tajik music, just a redirect to Music of Tajikistan, of which there are clearly several kinds. Rathfelder (talk) 14:18, 20 October 2021 (UTC)]
- Merge per nom. There is an additional problem with the name of the category because Tajik is the language but the nationality is Tajikistani. So, are they singers in Tajik or are they Tajikistani singers? Another good reason to merge. No Great Shaker (talk) 17:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- Merge per nom. --Just N. (talk) 11:15, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:OVERLAPCAT (or keep if not deleted, but certainly do not merge), the category consists mostly of Tajikistani singers and also some Afghan-Tajik singers, however it is incorrect or uncertain that the latter singers sang in Tajik language. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:26, 31 October 2021 (UTC)]
- Happy to purge it and then delete. Rathfelder (talk) 22:08, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

QED ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 09:37, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for putting together this list Shushugah. On their talkpage, Shushugah noted the simplest solution would be renaming the category tree so that they are clearly marked as task force categories, eg. Category:WikiProject Philippine History to Category:Philippine history task force. If a code tweak on Template:WikiProject Tambayan Philippines to allow this is easier than merging, I suggest going with this route. CMD (talk) 10:16, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- Support Alt rename per CMD. --Just N. (talk) 11:20, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines/Task force Philippine History, rather than /Philippine history task force. Also, it doesn't only depend on {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}}, as at least some of the pages use {{WikiProject Philippine History}}. – Fayenatic London 21:32, 16 November 2021 (UTC)]
- @Fayenatic london: My idea was that the history category tree could be maintained within the wider tree. This is part of the deprecation of {{WikiProject Philippine History}}, which has been partially merged into {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}} already. What remains is figuring out whether {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}} can handle this cateogry structure as well, or whether the category structure must be deleted. CMD (talk) 02:46, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, the parent WikiProject template can handle task force categories. Here's one that UnitedStatesian and I did earlier: Template:WikiProject Catholicism populates Category:Catholic canon law articles and its subcats if the parameter
canon=y
is set. What's more, you don't need to edit the 300+ pages that currently link to the Philippine History template; it can be redirected as a wrapper template like {{WikiProject Catholic canon law}}. – Fayenatic London 13:46, 17 November 2021 (UTC)- Or, you could put in a bot request to make the mass edit change; that's what we did when we used User:DannyS712 bot to break out Template:WikiProject Climate change from Template:WikiProject Environment. UnitedStatesian (talk) 16:32, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london and UnitedStatesian: These options are very good news, and greatly appreciated. I have no personal preference, but note there may be a couple of pages which currently have both. There is already "tf_1_Importance" code and "tf_1_ASSESSMENT_CAT" code in {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}}; if someone adds "TF_1_MAIN_CAT" will that transfer 'control' of the category tree? Appreciate any help from those more familiar with this sort of thing, including carrying out the necessary edits. CMD (talk) 16:58, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- @WP:CFDW; I think that will move the categories even if they are not tagged. – Fayenatic London 08:54, 18 November 2021 (UTC)]
- @Fayenatic london: no, we used that bot to find/replace which project banner template appeared on article talkpages, and to change subproject parameters within those banner templates. The category changes flowed automatically from the talkpage edits. UnitedStatesian (talk) 13:40, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- @UnitedStatesian: That sounds like neat work, with the advantage that the results would not confuse anyone when editing the page. However, the required outcomes could be achieved just by updating the WikiProject templates, like the Catholic canon law example above. – Fayenatic London 16:24, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

- @WP:G6 housekeeping task to make them consistent with that task force name. – Fayenatic London 19:22, 30 November 2021 (UTC)]
- @back in August to little notice. The main issue is that whatever the name, the new template can support them through the taskforce functionality, and it is that item I am looking for confirmation on. CMD (talk) 00:21, 1 December 2021 (UTC)]
- @CMD: I'm not sure what you mean by "the new template" but I think the confirmation you are looking for is: Yes, the renamed task force categories can be populated both by {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}} and by {{WikiProject Philippine History}}, which can be made into a wrapper for the former. You can see this method working by looking at the Catholic examples above.– Fayenatic London 08:34, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
