Nominator's rationale: Use of the terms
regatta (redirected to boat racing
, see below) are varying and therefore hard to categorise. The two categories get all kinds of sailing competitions that would fit into their parent category.
The proposal is to upmerge the two categories to Category:Sailing competitions. Category:Sailing competitions could be split in Category:Offshore sailing competitions and Category:One-design fleet racing competitions (inspired by Offshore & Oceanic Sailing and Fleet Racing, among six other Types of Sailing, presented on World Sailing (governing body) website here.

  • One is a person and the other is a company they are not the same thing and these should not be merged. Yachty4000
  • Merge I think it's OK if "designer" could either mean a person or a firm. In practice, it might be hard to distinguish anyway since any current designer would have a corporate entity set up and most of the firms are founded/lead by a single person. Nominator's rationale: The 470 World Championships men and women events have, since a women’s event was added in 1985 until both being replaced by a mixed event in 2022, been held together. Other articles, if existing, e.g. the 2017 470 World Championships, deals with the two events together, with the two articles of this category coming from the times the championship has been included in a bigger event, the Sailing World Championships. This has happened another three times (currently without articles).
If kept, I believe the category should be renamed Category:Women's events at the 470 World Championships following Category:Women's events at the Summer Olympics.
Note: the category had one article until yesterday which I, when overlooking the Category:Sailing competitions-tree, then moved to Category:470 World Championships, and later was readded together with one other article. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 09:58, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
